You only need to peacefully disagree with the ideological dogmas of the left to be labeled "far-right" or "ultra-Catholic."
However, the left seems to have absolute discretion against any accusation of extremism, as we saw once again yesterday. Two far-left activists vandalized a painting of Christopher Columbus in the Naval Museum in Madrid, throwing red paint at the work. Video of the attack can be seen here:
Esto ha pasado en el Museo Naval, que depende de la Armada Espanola. Se me ocurren un montón de castigos clásicos en el Mar que deberían aplicarse a estos salvajes. ¿Cuál es su favorito? pic.twitter.com/husGbSmBRS

A far-left group called Futuro Vegetal, which has previously carried out similar attacks, openly claimed responsibility for the attack with this message: "We threw biodegradable paint at the painting "First Tribute to Christopher Columbus", in the Naval Museum. The celebration of October 12 is the celebration of centuries of oppression, exploitation and genocide of the original population of Abya Yala."
Many Spanish media outlets have reported on this attack by this group of violent fanatics who are dedicated to imitating the Taliban, attacking works of art that do not fit with their ideological lies and, specifically, with the lies of the anti-Spanish black legend, promoted by the same far-left that has spread the hoax of the Israeli "genocide" in Gaza. One day they slander Israel and the next day they slander Spain. Curiously, these fanatics never direct their criticism at Islamist or communist dictatorships, not even at the communist dictatorship of China, which has murdered millions of people.
With news of this magnitude, what is strange is to observe the unanimity in the editorial staff: No media outlet has labeled the attacking group as "ultra-left" or "far left", despite the fact that they defend clearly leftist ideological theses and do so with extremist methods such as violence. I already warned against this media bias in an article published on Saturday and we have only had to wait 24 hours to see another very clear example.
Let's imagine for a moment that those who attack works of art did so from other ideological perspectives. Would the media have treated two right-wingers who vandalized a painting with this courtesy? You only have to regularly scan the Spanish media, even some that claim not to be left-wing, to see that in Spain groups that defend their ideas through legal and peaceful means are labeled "far-right" or "ultra-Catholic" simply because their opinions do not conform to the single progressive thought.
Things change if you're on the "correct" ideological side. If you're on the left, then you can vandalize a work of art because no Spanish media outlet will dare to label you as "far left," as if the existence of an extremist left that believes violence is a legitimate means to achieve its ends were something like a taboo that shouldn't be discussed. But if you're from Vox, Hazte Oír, Abogados Cristianos, NEOS, or Atenea, then prepare to be singled out, defamed, and slandered by the same progressive media outlets that don't see fit to call leftist fanatics who vandalize a painting extremists.
