TVE has as a commentator a Stalin admirer who rejects human rights

Pedro Sánchez's government is normalizing openly totalitarian rhetoric through the media outlets it controls.

An example of this could be seen yesterday on Spanish Television, specifically on the program "Malas Lenguas," hosted by Jesús Cintora. During a debate, the communist José Miguel Villarroya began shouting: "Private healthcare, out! Private education, out! Private social services, out! Private housing, out!" This is not a joke. You can see the video of that moment of the debate here:

What Villarroya demanded yesterday would entail banning all non-state schools, all private hospitals, NGOs like Caritas, and prohibiting people from owning their own homes. This is a colossal nonsense that only has a place in a totalitarian regime that violates human rights, since it would violate rights recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, such as the right to private property (Article 17) and freedom of education (Articles 18 and 26).

What kind of person can defend attacks on human rights like the ones this guy raises? Well, it's not hard to find out: in July, in an interview with the newspaper El Mundo, Villarroya expressed his admiration for the communist dictator and genocidal Stalin, whom he considers the "best politician of the 20th century". Given this, many will surely not be surprised to learn that this guy has also defended the communist dictatorships of North Korea and East Germany and the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Let us recall that in September 2019, the European Parliament adopted a resolution stating: "the Nazi and communist regimes carried out mass murders, genocide and deportations and caused a loss of life and freedom in the 20th century on a scale unseen in human history." The resolution condemned "all manifestations and propagation of totalitarian ideologies, such as Nazism and Stalinism, in the EU."

In 2021, the entire Spanish parliamentary left voted against that resolution in the Congress of Deputies. It is the same left that frequently speaks to us about "historical memory" and "democratic memory." Now that left is inviting an admirer of Stalin to TVE, a state channel, to harangue against human rights, without any statement of rejection from that outlet. Will the next step be to invite an admirer of Hitler to demonize the Jews?
