Russian terrorist attack on a kindergarten in Ukraine: How many protests will there be?

Vladimir Putin's dictatorship continues its terrorist practices in its war of aggression against the Ukrainian nation.

On Wednesday, Russia launched a drone attack against a kindergarten in Kharkiv, in northern Ukraine. The attack took place in the Kholodnohirskyi district. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that this terrorist attack killed one person and injured nine. Amil Omarov, head of the Regional Prosecutor's Office, has stated that the Russian terrorist attack took place at around 11:00 a.m. local time (10:00 a.m. CET) and that Russia launched Geran drones, the Russian version of the Iranian HESA Shahed 131 drone, with a 15 kg warhead of explosives.

As so often, the Russian attack was launched against a residential area. The lack of additional casualties is because the children were quickly evacuated to a shelter when the attack began. The person murdered is a utility worker. The Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office is already investigating and documenting these events as a war crime.

Regarding the children at the kindergarten, the Ukrainian president said: "Preliminary reports indicate that many are showing acute stress reactions." In a message posted at 11:18 CET, Volodymyr Zelensky added: "There is no justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten, nor can there ever be. Clearly, Russia is growing more brazen. These strikes are Russia’s spit in the face to everyone who insists on a peaceful resolution. Thugs and terrorists can only be put in their place by force."

One might ask: How many protests will we see about this in Western cities? In recent weeks, we have seen far-left demonstrations and even labor and student strikes against Israel, a country that—like Ukraine—was the victim of a serious attack against its people. So far, the far left has not called a single protest in support of Ukraine. On the contrary. It has protested against NATO, even displaying Russian flags, and has consistently opposed sanctions against the aggressor country and the sending of military aid to Ukraine so that it could defend itself against Russian aggression, thus doing a favor to Putin's dictatorship.

How many more Russian attacks like this will it take for some Western countries to take military aid to Ukraine seriously? The latest topic of debate is whether or not to deliver long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, weapons that would make it possible to destroy the launch sites of these Russian terrorist attacks against the Ukrainian civilian population. Do some Western politicians prefer to wait for Russia, emboldened by this lack of resolve, to attack kindergartens in Paris, Berlin, London, or New York?

We need to accept once and for all that the Ukrainian people have been fighting for years against more than just a Russian invasion: Ukraine is Western civilization's first line of defense against barbarism, a barbarism represented by Russia's alliance with communist China, North Korea, and Iran, four dictatorships whose bullying is encouraged by every sign of weakness they perceive in the West. If we don't react now against these bullies by providing more robust aid to Ukraine, tomorrow the next ones to be attacked could be your children. In fact, Russia is already using civilian ships to launch drones against Europe, a strategy that is behind the incidents at various European airports in recent weeks.
