Putin gives Europe more reasons to arm itself: it will be interesting to see who opposes it

Vladimir Putin's dictatorship has been issuing threats against Europe for years for a wide variety of reasons. Yesterday it did so again.

Yesterday, the Russian dictator stated: "If Europe suddenly wants to fight us - and starts - we are ready right now. There can be no doubt about that. The only question is: if Europe suddenly starts a war with us, then, it seems to me, very quickly... this is not Ukraine, with Ukraine we act surgically, carefully." Putin added: "If Europe suddenly wants to start a war with us - and starts it - then a situation could very quickly arise where we will have no one to negotiate with."

These threats from Putin against Europe are not the first. In recent years, and since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the Russian dictator and his regime have already threatened Finland, Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. These threats have led the two Nordic countries to join NATO and Poland and the Baltic states to arm themselves to face a possible Russian invasion.

With his usual cynicism, the Russian dictator also said yesterday that European countries "are on the side of war." This statement is only fitting for those who have been brainwashed by Russian propaganda, since Putin says this while waging a war of aggression against Ukraine, an unprovoked invasion whose sole justification is the Russian dictator's nationalist ravings.

Obviously, these latest threats from Putin have the same purpose as the previous ones: to frighten Europe into letting him murder the Ukrainian people without offering any help to those attacked, looking the other way and ignoring the greatest threat to peace and security in Europe since World War II. If Europe were to give in to these threats, Putin would continue to use them to force Europeans to become servants of Moscow, until no one on the entire continent would dare to utter even the slightest criticism of this criminal for fear of provoking his wrath.

What Putin wants is the same as what other criminals like Hitler and Stalin wanted: a submissive Europe, European countries that renounce their sovereignty and freedom to become lackeys of a tyrant who is taking every possible step to return Russia to the darkest times of the Soviet dictatorship, when Europe had to arm itself not only to defend its freedom, but also its survival.

Faced with these threats, Europe has only two options: submit to Moscow or resist. The first option would mean the end of Europe as a continent of free and sovereign nations. Of course, just as with the nazis and the soviets, there will always be traitors willing to profit from the enslavement of their people, serving the master in Moscow in exchange for a privileged position in that Moscow-enslaved Europe. The only honorable option for Europe is to arm itself and resist. Only in this way can Europe remain free.

Of course, we will soon have the opportunity to discover who prefers to give in to Russian threats, adopting the Kremlin's cynical rhetoric and parroting its lies to try to undermine any European attempt to resist this bully. They will be the most insistent on opposing Europe's preparations to defend itself. In fact, some have already been doing so, trying to convince us that Russia is not our enemy and that we must sacrifice Ukraine on the altar of the tyrant in Moscow if we don't want to suffer reprisals. They will accuse us of not wanting "peace," which is what they call humiliating ourselves before the dictator Putin and complying with his wishes.

It won't be the first time the soil of the old continent has heard those siren songs: it's the same old rhetoric used by the collaborators of the nazis and the soviets, despicable people who tried to convince their compatriots that it was better to live as slaves than to fight for freedom. We already know what those two totalitarian regimes did to Europe: now it's up to us to resist a tyrant who wants the worst of our history to be repeated.
