TVE, desperate, promotes a ridiculous conspiracy theory about socialist corruption

For years, TVE has been acting as a propaganda arm for the Socialist Party (PSOE), with increasing brazenness. The socialists' corruption scandals have only served to accentuate the sectarianism and manipulation within the network. Yesterday, one of its programs, "Mañaneros 360," even promoted a ridiculous theory to portray the socialists as victims of a conspiracy, in connection with the latest arrests made by the police this Thursday.

At 13:49 CET, the program's Twitter channel posted the following message: "Did the PP anticipate today's arrests? Coincidence or self-fulfilling prophecy? A PP senator predicted that 'certain information' would soon be revealed." To answer this biased question, the presenter, Javier Ruiz (who is receiving a lot of criticism for his partisanship at the helm of this program), interviewed the communist Alberto Garzón, former Minister of Consumer Affairs, who, of course, was quick to fuel the conspiracy theory launched by Ruiz, stating that "part of the judiciary, part of the Police" have "an ideology, and part of them has a very conservative ideology." TVE has been supporting the government's attacks against the Justice system for weeks following the recent conviction of the then Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz for a crime of revealing secrets in the framework of a revenge operation against a political rival of the PSOE. Now he's not just attacking judges: he's also attacking the police, and he's doing so with an absurd conspiracy theory based on words spoken by PP senator Luis Javier Santamaría to Socialist minister Félix Bolaños on December 2nd, in which he stated the following: "I will ask you to dismiss some of your colleagues within the next few weeks, when certain information is made public."

The senator wasn't talking about arrests and was merely predicting new information about the PSOE's corruption scandals, words that don't indicate he had privileged information: one only needs to follow current events to reach that conclusion. However, the government and its affiliated media, in desperation, have been using these words for ten days to fuel conspiracy theories on the left and thus avoid being held accountable for the wave of corruption scandals that are affecting the government and the PSOE.

With yesterday's manipulation, TVE continues to provide reasons to demand its closure as soon as the PSOE is ousted from power. In a democratic country with numerous television channels, the existence of public channels paid for by taxpayers only serves the interests of the politicians who control them and use them as propaganda outlets. Even starting from this premise, TVE has gone too far in its sectarianism and manipulation, attacking the Judiciary and now also the Police in an attempt to discredit these two state institutions that are fulfilling their duty to prosecute political corruption, regardless of who is implicated.
