It lied when it denied an attack by a socialist councilor on a Vox councilor

If the PSOE lies like this about a recorded attack, what won't they do at other times?

The use of lies in politics is not something unique to our time, nor is the fact of using them in the most shameless way.

In theory, we live in a time in history when debunking a lie is especially easy, because today almost everyone has a mobile phone capable of recording videos. However, lies continue to run rampant, indifferent to the evidence, becoming a powerful political tool in the hands of unscrupulous people.

A Socialist councillor threw a cup of coffee at a Vox councillor.

Yesterday, David Esteban Fernández, the Vox spokesperson in the Aranjuez City Council (Madrid), announced that he would be filing a complaint against José María Cermeño Terol, a Socialist councilor from the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), for a serious incident that occurred during a municipal committee meeting in February. The incident began when a socialist councilor called the Vox spokesperson an "asshole." At that moment, the insulted councilor asked, "Did you just call me an asshole?" Cermeño intervened, saying, "That's what you are, because that's what you are, and a fascist to boot." At that moment, the Vox spokesperson said to Cermeño, "And you're lazy." Then, the socialist councilman threw a glass full of hot coffee at the Vox spokesperson, which is the act of aggression that prompted this complaint.

The PSOE of Aranjuez published a statement denying the attack...

After the complaint was filed, the PSOE of Aranjuez published a statement denying the attack (an automatic copy can be seen here, in case the statement is deleted or altered) in which the socialists stated the following: "the events recounted by the Vox spokesperson, Esteban Fernández, are false, as can be confirmed by spokespeople from the other political groups present at the Information Committee, and that what is a reality is that the Esteban Fernández seriously insulted members of the socialist group, even going so far as to make death threats."

... unaware that there was a recording that proved it

The PSOE statement added the following about the Vox spokesperson: "in the information committee to which reference is made, he seriously insulted several members of our municipal group, maintaining a violent reaction to the point of threatening to kill one of our councilors on two occasions".

What the PSOE in Aranjuez didn't realize is that a recording of the assault was released hours later, proving that the socialists' version is a complete lie (you can see it above). The Vox spokesperson didn't seriously insult his opponents; he simply responded to the socialists' insults with a rather mild adjective. The assault did occur, and the PSOE lied when they denied it, slandering and criminalizing the victim.

The PSOE does not apologize and does not even condemn the attack.

Yesterday afternoon, the aggressor acknowledged his "inappropriate behavior" and announced that he will resign his council seat this Tuesday. What is most astonishing is reviewing the party's communication channels and finding that the PSOE has not apologized for this attack or this deception, neither at the municipal, regional, nor national level. Nor have they condemned this attack. Let's remember that these are the same socialists who announced an "international summit against hate" last weekend, with the obvious purpose of pointing the finger at their political rivals with this accusation, as they have been doing for years. When hate comes from the left and even from within their own ranks, the socialists remain silent.

The logical question is: if the PSOE lies like this about a recorded attack, what won't they do at other times? We have already seen Pedro Sánchez's government and his party lying on many occasions. Sometimes the lie contradicts documented facts, and other times it is used as an attempt to offer an alternative version of a real event so that people doubt the truth. In case anyone doesn't know, it is the same method that Vladimir Putin's dictatorship uses in its propaganda machine to deceive millions of people and cover up its misdeeds.
