It's been a while since I've photographed airplanes from the ground, a nice pastime as long as the sky is clear, of course.
We had great weather in the Rías Baixas this Sunday. This is what the landscape looked like at 2:51 pm on Panjón beach, in Nigrán (a photo taken with my iPhone):
There were quite a few commercial flights in the area today, which explains the large contrail visible in the previous photo. At 4:43 PM I photographed this Air France Boeing 777-328(ER) over Playa América. According to Flightradar24, it was flying at 33,000 feet (10,058 meters) and 452 knots (837 km/h). The aircraft is F-GSQR, flight AFR758, from Paris (CDG) to Pointe-à-Pitre (in Guadeloupe, the Antilles).
Here you can see a close-up of this photo. I use an all-purpose lens with my DSLR camera, so you can't expect miracles, but I think it's not bad.
At 16:45 I photographed this EasyJet A320-214, G-EJCG. It was flight EZY63WU from Tenerife to London-Gatwick (LGW).
Here's an enlargement of this photo.
At 4:46 PM I was still photographing the Air France plane when I saw the EasyJet plane cross paths with another aircraft. I had never captured a photo like that before; it was pure luck.
Here we can see the enlarged image. On the left we see the EasyJet A320-214 and on the right a Jet2Holidays Boeing 737-8MG, G-JZHT, flight EXS1DC from Nottingham (EMA), in the United Kingdom, to Tenerife.
Here we can see the contrails of both planes crossing.. On the left, EasyJet, and on the right, Jet2Holidays.
At 16:46 I took this photo of the Jet2Holidays alone.
And here's the extension.
I'm always fascinated by taking photos like these. It's funny to think that these planes are packed with people at high altitudes and high speeds towards faraway places, and you can photograph them taking a stroll along a beach... I hope your walks on the beach are as interesting as mine. 😉
