The Spanish Marine Corps continues its presence in the United States for the multinational exercise Fleetex 250.
A few days ago we saw here the landing of the Spanish Navy on the beaches of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where an important base of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) is located. Last Friday, the Marines released a series of photos of a live-fire artillery exercise in which we can see an M-109A5E self-propelled howitzer from the Landing Artillery Group (GAD) of the Tercio de Armada (TEAR) , the Spanish Marine Infantry' expeditionary force. You can see those images here.

Two Spanish artillerymen from the GAD placing the fuse on a 155 mm projectile next to the M-109A5E.
Several Spanish artillerymen from the GAD in the rear compartment of an M-109A5E.
The turret of the M-109A5E. Above, we see a Browning M-2 heavy machine gun in the commander's hatch. To the left, we see the M-140 alignment device, used to verify the alignment of the howitzer's rear sight.
The howitzer barrel lock. The M-284 gun barrel of the M-109A5 weighs 1.8 tons. This lock prevents the barrel from moving and causing damage while the vehicle is in motion.
GAD gunners inserting one of the projection charges into the M-109A5E.

A GAD gunner loading a 155mm projectile into the M-109A5E. We see another projectile on the ground to the left and three propellant charges to the right. The vehicle has both stabilizing blades already lowered (they serve to mitigate recoil).
