This Friday, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran's nuclear program, in an offensive called Operation Am Kalavi.
A fanatical dictatorship bent on murdering the people of Israel
Some people believe that Israel was the first to attack and that Israel, which also has nuclear weapons, has no right to prevent Iran from having them as well. The former is patently false. Since its establishment in 1979, Iran's Islamist dictatorship has been promoting terrorism against Israel and openly calling for the destruction of the Jewish state. The terrorist regime in Tehran is openly anti-Semitic and has a clearly genocidal purpose.
The Tehran regime is not comparable to a democratic country like Israel. What exists in Tehran is not a reasonable government with which one can engage in dialogue to reach a civilized consensus. The Iranian dictatorship has been promoting the murder of Israeli citizens for decades through terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. When Israel managed to dismantle these criminal organizations, the Tehran regime directly attacked Israel's civilian population.
A war started by that Islamist and antisemitic dictatorship
The Iranian dictatorship and the State of Israel have two very different ways of acting. The ayatollahs seek to indiscriminately murder Israeli citizens, just as their Russian allies do with the Ukrainian people (in fact, Putin is using Iranian drones for his attacks against the Ukrainian civilian population). Israel is a democratic country that has sought to protect the lives of its citizens since its founding in 1948. Since that year, Israel has endured successive attacks seeking to destroy the country, attacks launched from countries with a Muslim majority.
Israel's neighbors have repeatedly tried to destroy the Jewish state, and Israel has won every war against them, despite having a much smaller population than countries like Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Iran. Chastened by so many defeats, several Arab countries decided to make peace with Israel, and since then there has been no conflict between them, which should give many pause for thought. If there is a war between Iran and Israel today, it is because it was started by the Iranian dictatorship, a fanatical regime that does not tolerate the presence of a Jewish state in the Middle East, a region of the world where Jews have lived for thousands of years.
The danger posed by the Iranian nuclear program
On the other hand, the fact that a criminal dictatorship like Iran has nuclear weapons is a danger to peace, just as it is the fact that other criminal regimes have such weapons, such as Russia, China, and North Korea, three dictatorships bent on destroying their neighbors in Ukraine, Taiwan, and South Korea. Israel has never threatened to destroy any country, but Iran has been threatening to destroy Israel for decades. What are the people of Israel supposed to do, sit idly by for a new Holocaust to befall them, this time with uranium instead of Zyklon B gas?
Let's consider for a moment that Israel invests an enormous amount of resources in the defense of its citizens for a country with less than 10 million inhabitants. In contrast, Iran has 90 million inhabitants and its dictatorship invests a large part of its budget in weapons to destroy Israel, openly neglecting the protection of its own citizens, as has become evident in recent days. It's the same mentality of the Hamas terrorists in Gaza: they put more effort into killing Jews than into protecting the lives of their own people, demonstrating that they care very little about them.
Israel has no choice but to win this war if it wishes to survive
Finally, history shows what happens when Israel's enemies lose a war. Countries like Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan have not disappeared despite losing wars against Israel. On the contrary, Israel cannot afford to lose a war, because that would mean its disappearance as a country and the extermination of its citizens. This fact is systematically ignored by many who insist on equating Israel with the countries that have tried to destroy the Jewish state since its founding. If Iran loses this war, Iran will continue to exist. With luck, the Islamist dictatorship could fall, something that millions of Persian citizens who are already fed up with so much oppression would celebrate. Israel must win this war if it wants to survive.
