Charlie Kirk's prophetic reflexion on the “assassination culture” on the left-wing

The murder of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has caused a great shock in the United States.

A man is killed for being a Trump follower and this is how some media give the news

Beyond this shock, this crime and the comments that left-wing activists are making in the media and on social networks, in many cases demonizing the victim of this crime and even justifying his murder, should lead to serious reflexion, because the violent drift of a large part of the left could end up having very serious consequences for the whole of society.

In April, the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) released poll results showing that 55.2% of left-wingers found assassinating Donald Trump justified and 48.6% found assassinating Elon Musk justified. 57.6% of leftists also found it acceptable to destroy Tesla dealerships. "What was formerly taboo culturally has become acceptable,", said Joel Finkelstein, lead author of the report. "We are seeing a clear shift – glorification, increased attempts and changing norms – all converging into what we define as 'assassination culture'"

Finkelstein specifically pointed to the case of Luigi Mangione, a suspect in the December 2024 murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. "What followed, researchers say, was a viral wave of memes that turned Mangione into a folk hero," Fox News reported. Finkelstein commented: "It's not just Luigi anymore. We're seeing an expansion: Trump, Musk and others are now being openly discussed as legitimate targets, often cloaked in meme culture and gamified online dialogue."

Following the release of that report, Charlie Kirk posted this reflexion on his Twitter account on April 8th, showing the graphs from that survey. The reflexion has turned out to be prophetic as far as he is concerned:

"Assassination culture is spreading on the left. Forty-eight percent of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. Fifty-five percent said the same about Donald Trump.

In California, activists are naming ballot measures after Luigi Mangione.

The left is being whipped into a violent frenzy. Any setback, whether losing an election or losing a court case, justifies a maximally violent response.

This is the natural outgrowth of left-wing protest culture tolerating violence and mayhem for years on end. The cowardice of local prosecutors and school officials have turned the left into a ticking time bomb."

We can see this in Spain, where the left is destroying a sporting event because there is an Israeli team and the socialist government is openly encouraging this violence. This is the same government that is allied with EH Bildu, a party that refuses to condemn the 853 murders perpetrated by the terrorist group ETA, including the murders of 22 children and babies. We have a government allied with a party, the BNG, which in July dedicated "a very strong round of applause" to a terrorist group at a public event, without any media outlet being scandalized by it.

Even worse: let's not forget that three years ago, the entire Spanish left en bloc refused to support the European condemnation of the crimes of communism in a scandalous vote in the Congress of Deputies. Let's remember that that resolution of condemnation denounced crimes of genocide with millions of victims. A left that refuses to condemn things like this is making it clear that it does not believe in democracy, freedom, or the peaceful exchange of opinions. Perhaps that's why we're increasingly seeing leftist calls for censorship, justifying it with the crude trap of identifying any disagreement with their dogmas as "hate."

We have an increasingly radicalized and fanaticized left that just yesterday demonized the victim of a murder, a man who defended absolutely legitimate opinions through words and peaceful means, simply because those opinions did not coincide with the ideological dogmas of socialists and communists. This left considers everyone who disagrees to be "fascist," a classification that automatically makes you the target of future attacks, and it does not realize that precisely this leftist fanaticism is increasingly resembling the fascism it claims to hate.
