Wales is a very mountainous part of the United Kingdom. Its highest peak is Yr Wyddfa, whose summit reaches 1,085 meters above sea level.
Snowdonia National Park (Eryri in Welsh) is a mountainous area in northwest Wales. It covers an area of 2,142 square kilometers and contains most of the 188 Welsh mountains that rise above 2,000 feet (609.6 meters).
For many years there has been a challenge known as the Welsh 3000s, which consists of traversing 19 peaks of at least 3,000 feet (914.4 meters) in that area of Wales within 24 hours. These are peaks that are relatively close to each other, but are characterized by very steep slopes. The challenge begins at Yr Wyddfa and ends at Foelfras, whose summit is 942 meters above sea level.
Currently, the record for this challenge is held by Finlay Wild, who in 2019 traversed those 15 peaks in 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 48 seconds. The women's record has been held by Angela Carson since 1989, when she completed the same route in 5 hours, 28 minutes, and 21 seconds. This Sunday, Chris Knight posted a video showing his run in this challenge, with spectacular views:
