Last Sunday, elections were held for the Parliament of Andalusia, with a bittersweet result for the current Andalusian government.
According to the official results, after losing five seats, the People's Party (PP) lost its absolute majority and will have to form a coalition with Vox (which gained one more seat) to continue governing in that Spanish region. Last Thursday, the PP candidate, Juanma Moreno, said he had "no interest" in governing with Vox, statements he will now have to retract unless he wants to go into opposition.
Time will tell how any potential agreements between the two parties will turn out, but for now, the Socialist Party (PSOE), which obtained its worst result since regional elections began in Andalusia (yet another sign of the weariness many Spaniards feel towards Pedro Sánchez and his party), has issued a warning to the PP and Vox, stating that it will "monitor" any agreements between them. The PSOE said this as if it were the guardian of democratic principles in Spain.
Regardless of whether people like those parties more or less, the PP and Vox are democratic parties, something that cannot be said of a considerable portion of the PSOE's allies. In fact, if there is one party that has no ethical or moral authority to lecture on democracy in Spain, it is precisely the PSOE, a party rotten with political corruption and which has spent years making a blatant display of authoritarianism, with attacks on the media and the judges investigating its scandals.
The PSOE is a party that has committed the vile act of making a pact with Bildu, a party that refuses to condemn the 853 murders perpetrated by the terrorist group ETA, including 22 murders of children and babies, and that it also refused to condemn Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the largest anti-Semitic massacre since the Holocaust, in which those Islamist criminals tortured, mutilated, raped, and brutally murdered 1,300 men, women, children, and babies.
Furthermore, the PSOE has not hesitated to ally itself with the parties that perpetrated the separatist coup of October 1, 2017, a coup d'état aimed at undermining the constitutional order and breaking national unity. Not only has it made a pact with them, but it has also granted them amnesty to erase their crimes in exchange for their support for Sánchez's reelection —an intolerable penal privilege and one of the greatest acts of political corruption committed by this government.
Furthermore, the PSOE is currently the only party in the European Union governing in a coalition with communists, that is, with supporters of a totalitarian movement that has killed more than 100 million people. This is a vile act on par with making a pact with a nazi party. This pact has had perverse consequences. Five years ago, the PSOE and its far-left allies voted against the European condemnation of the crimes of Nazism and Communism, a display of indecency typical of Vladimir Putin's dictatorship.
Finally, Pedro Sánchez, the top leader of the PSOE, is currently the biggest European ally of the Chinese communist dictatorship, a one-party regime in which the far left has been governing without free elections since 1949, a regime that has killed millions of people and that still maintains the Laogai, the Chinese version of the Gulag, the vast network of concentration camps created by Lenin's dictatorship. These are the ones who say they're going to "monitor" the agreements between two democratic parties, the PP and Vox. I know where I'd like to send the PSOE and their surveillance, but I'll leave it at that, because I have a rule not to use foul language on the blog.
