As regular readers of Explorando.info already know, there is a YouTube channel for which I have a special fondness.
I am referring, of course, to Aventuras Entresierras, created by my good friend Caracortada. In late August, the channel released an interesting video covering a journey through parts of northern Spain, visiting various locations in Castile and León, Cantabria, and Asturias. Upon returning south, Caracortada’s vehicle broke down, leaving Aventuras Entresierras involuntarily sidelined ever since.
Fortunately, the channel is back with its handsome olive-green Jeep. This Monday, October 12, Aventuras Entresierras published a video showing the return of that iconic vehicle, accompanied by the tireless Alfred—a four-legged explorer who has quite a fan club in Vigo. This time, the video features a bivouac at an undisclosed location, showcasing beautiful footage from southern Spain (the video is in Spanish but has an English audio track; you can enable it in the player):
You can see some screenshots from this entertaining video here. One of the things that really caught my eye is the reddish earth on the path. Here in northern Spain, I’ve only seen something similar during my visit to Las Médulas, in the province of León, 14 years ago.
Here we see the adventurer Alfred enjoying the scenery while his driver takes him for a ride. What could our four-legged friend be thinking?
Since this blog features an automotive channel and this four-wheeled adventurer is the star of this post, I feel it is necessary to say a few things about it. "Jeepy"—as Caracortada calls it—is a Jeep Wrangler JK 4x4, the third generation of the Jeep Wrangler (personally, I consider it the best-looking of the model's four generations). This generation was manufactured between 2006 and 2017 (specifically, Jeepy dates from early 2014).
Jeepy is the three-door Sport version of the Wrangler JK (featuring two side doors and a fold-down tailgate), with four seats, a soft top, removable doors, and a fold-down windshield. It is equipped with a front-mounted winch and halogen headlights. It is powered by a 3.6-liter DOHC V6 engine producing 285 hp. This model was sold with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle weighs 1,759 kg and has a cargo capacity of 363 liters, along with a 70-liter fuel tank. A gem of an off-roader, and a very beautiful color, too.
