Russia massacres civilians in Zaporizhia 4 days after claiming it is a Russian city

The terrorist practices carried out by the Kremlin in its invasion of Ukraine are exposing the official discourse of the Russian government.

On Wednesday, October 5, Putin signed the decrees of annexation to Russia of four regions of Ukraine invaded by the Russians: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. It is one of the most absurd annexations in history, since Russia does not even completely control any of those four regions. But in case there was any doubt that the official discourse of the Kremlin is totally alien to the reality, the Russian government itself has taken it upon itself to prove it tonight.

After the explosion suffered this Saturday by the Kerch bridge, built by the Russians to connect their territory with the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea (militarily occupied by Russia since 2014), Russia fired 12 Kh-22 and Kh-59 aircraft-launched missiles at a residential area in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia tonight, killing 12 civilians and wounding 87. The victims include 10 children, as reported by Oleksandr Starukh, governor of the Zaporizhia region, this afternoon. In addition, the Russians launched a 9K720 Iskander ballistic missile against the regional center of the city, which was able to be shot down by Ukrainian air defenses, although the remains of the missile reached a civilian area. Starukh has pointed out that on October 6, this same city suffered another Russian air attack that killed 20 people.

Zaporizhia is the capital of the region of the same name. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been constantly attacking the city, especially civilian targets, not being able to conquer it. The southern half of the Zaporizhia region is occupied by the Russians, but the regional capital, situated in the northern half, remains in the hands of Ukrainian forces. Despite not completely controlling this region, on September 27 Russia organized a fake annexation referendum to take over all of Zaporizhia, an annexation confirmed by Putin in a decree on Wednesday. Paradoxically, the Kremlin claims that the entire Zaporizhia region is already part of Russia, while continuing to massacre civilians in that region.

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian indiscriminate attacks against the civilian population have become commonplace, including mass executions of unarmed civilians in areas occupied by the invaders. For months, Russia has committed massacres of civilians like the ones in Bucha, Mariupol, Chaplyne and Izyum, among many other places, in addition to committing tortures against ukrainian prisoners of war and deportations of Ukrainian civilians to remote areas of the Russian Federation, acts that are crimes against humanity and war crimes. In terms of human rights, Putin's regime is proving to be heir to the worst practices of Stalin's criminal regime.

The images you have just seen in this post show the state of the residential area attacked last night by Russian planes. An attack with which Russia once again demonstrates that it is a terrorist state. The international community should treat him as such, beginning with his expulsion from the UN.
