An airshow in a mountainous area located at an altitude of 2,300 meters

The spectacular aerial display of two Swiss F/A-18 fighters in the middle of the Alps

There are many airshows around the world, but few are held in a venue as spectacular as AXALP, an annual event in Ebenfluh, Switzerland.

Unlike other festivals, which are held at airports, air bases or coastal locations, the AXALP takes place in a shooting range located in the middle of the Alps, at an altitude of around 2,300 meters, next to Axalphorn Peak. This offers aircraft photographers an unbeatable place to take the most spectacular photos of aircraft flying between the mountains. This year's festival started yesterday with a dedicated day of trainings, and another two dedicated to exhibitions between today and tomorrow.

Some regular participants in this airshow are the Swiss Air Force's F/A-18C Hornet fighter-bombers, whose pilots often demonstrate their great skill flying through the rugged geography of their country. British photographer Dafydd Phillips posted a video today of the day of rehearsals held yesterday, in which we can see two F/A-18C making spectacular maneuvers between the mountains and also launching the flares used to mislead infrared guided missiles:
