El Castro and the MS Queen Victoria

A view of one of my favorite places, Monte del Castro, in Vigo, at dusk. Behind the town hall building you can see the transatlantic MS Queen Victoria, of the Cunard Line shipping company. I took this photo on December 1, 2022, when that ship was leaving the port of Vigo after a brief stopover. The photo is taken from the viewpoint located in front of the Baluarte del Diamante, in the Castillo del Castro.

In the center of the photo is the Monument to the Rande Galleons, the work of the architect Desiderio Pernas, which includes three enormous anchors and five cannons salvaged from the ships sunk in the Battle of Rande in 1702.
