In Spain we know that in the worst moments we can always count on the best: our Armed Forces.
As has already happened in other natural disasters, different military units have already come to the aid of those affected by the catastrophe of the cold drop in several regions of Spain.
The main aid contingent, made up of more than 1,000 soldiers, is from the Military Emergency Unit (UME), which in the last few hours has deployed its five Emergency Intervention Battalions: BIEM I (based in Torrej贸n de Ardoz, Madrid), BIEM II (based in Mor贸n, Seville), BIEM III (based in B茅tera, Valencia), BIEM IV (based in Zaragoza) and BIEM V (based in San Andr茅s del Rabanedo, Le贸n). Here you can see a video of the start of this deployment:
M谩s de 1.000 militares de la #UME se han desplegado en la provincia de #Valencia con medios especializados trabajando, codo con codo, con el dispositivo de emergencia @GVA112.
Adem谩s, contamos con el apoyo del resto de las #FuerzasArmadas.

In addition, the UME has also deployed its Transmissions Battalion (BTUME), based in Torrej贸n de Ardoz, as well as three AS-532 Cougar helicopters and two EC-135 helicopters from the Emergency Helicopter Battalion II (BHELEME II), based in B茅tera, and the Emergency Support and Intervention Regiment (RAIEM), based in Torrej贸n. It is one of the largest deployments that the UME has made in its history. Below you can see a video showing the rescue work of the BHELEME II helicopters:

In addition, the Spanish Army has deployed 54 soldiers and 14 vehicles from the Special Operations Command (MOE), based in Rabasa (Alicante). Here you can see three VAMTAC ST-5 VMOE from this unit preparing for deployment:
And here you can see MOE soldiers in Letur (Albacete), with their characteristic Multicam camouflage uniform:
Early this afternoon, the Spanish Air Force reported the deployment of an NH-90 Lobo helicopter from Wing 48, based in Cuatro Vientos (Madrid), to assist the affected areas. The Air Force also has a helicopter from Wing 78, based in Armilla (Granada), and one from Wing 49, based in Son San Juan (Mallorca), ready to be deployed when required.
The Civil Guard is also providing land and air resources for the rescue efforts. Here we can see a video of a rescue carried out by an H135 helicopter of the Civil Guard Air Service in Sot de Chera, Valencia:

Here we can see two images of the UME deployment in the province of Cuenca, another of the affected areas:
You can see below the rescue work of the UME and the Civil Guard in the province of Valencia, the area most affected by this catastrophe:
My applause for the work being done by our military, as well as the civil emergency services, firefighters, National Police and Local Police. Moments like these always bring out the best in Spanish society, and you always have a prominent place in that regard.
