In this blog we have already seen several times the new CH-47F Chinook heavy helicopters of the Spanish Army.
Spain has 17 helicopters of this type, all of them assigned to the Fifth Transport Helicopter Battalion (BHELTRA V) of the Army Air Forces (FAMET). They are the largest helicopters in the Spanish Armed Forces. A month ago, Boeing announced the future delivery of an 18th Chinook to Spain, which will complete the initially planned fleet of this model, but which was left incomplete until now due to the loss of two of them in accidents (only replacing one of those losses).
These helicopters arrived in Spain in 1973, with 10 units of the Charly version (CH-47C), which was updated with a modernization to the Delta version (CH-47D) in 1989, a version of which a batch of 9 helicopters was also purchased. From February 2022 to October 2024, BHELTRA V has received the Foxtrot version (CH-47F), the most modern variant of this helicopter.
Yesterday, the Youtube channel Fly By Wire Aviation (which I highly recommend you subscribe to if you like the world of aviation) released the best and most complete video I've seen so far about the Chinook, with Commander Sastre, CH-47F pilot of BHELTRA V, explaining in detail what these large aircraft are like inside and out, as well as the new features of the Foxtrot version (the video is in Spanish, you can activate automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):
Congratulations to Fly By Wire Aviation for the excellent videos they are publishing. I really enjoyed this report.
