Unarmed soldiers in a level 4 anti-terrorist alert situation

Army deployment in Ceuta: without ammunition and with orders to 'dialogue' and 'not use force'

The migratory invasion launched from Morocco against the Spanish city of Ceuta is a great opportunity for that African country.

The astonishing silence of the Ministry of Defense regarding an act of hybrid warfare against Spain

Although the situation remains far from normal, despite the Spanish government's messages to the contrary, it is foreseeable that little by little the squatters who still refuse to leave will return to Morocco or be expelled, unless once again there is an insistence on distributing them to different parts of Spain, as has been done before. In any case, Morocco has already had a great opportunity to test the defenses of Ceuta and the determination of the Spanish government to use them in the event of launching a hybrid warfare operation on an even larger scale, such as the "Green March" launched by Morocco against the Spanish Sahara in 1975.

This migratory influx has been marked by a remarkable lack of official information in Spain. As we saw yesterday, the Ministry of Defense has said absolutely nothing about it on its official channels. Neither have the Armed Forces, the Civil Guard, nor the National Police. For all the official accounts of these institutions responsible for our defense and protection, it's as if the invasion of Ceuta never happened. We, the citizens, have received no information whatsoever through these official channels.

Obviously, freedom of information still exists in Spain, and what Spaniards don't know through official channels, we can end up finding out through other channels, such as social media. This Friday, July 31, the YouTuber RescueYou broadcast live from Ceuta, showing the situation in its streets and speaking with several soldiers, without showing their faces. The full video can be viewed by clicking here.

At 1:57:29 in the video (see here) we see a soldier from the Spanish Army carrying only a baton and no firearm, despite having two G36E rifle magazines in his vest (of an outdated model). The soldier is wearing the badge of the General Command of Ceuta (COMGECEU) on his right arm. When asked by the YouTuber, this soldier states: "The Army currently has orders for people to go to the border without the use of force."

At 1:58:31 (see here) another soldier from COMGECEU acknowledges that there is "a lot of tension" because there are some illegal immigrants who "want to stay at all costs". The soldier adds: "I've been explaining to them that the border is open for them, nobody is going to ask them for any kind of identification, or fingerprints, or anything, and even so they tell me no, that they're going to die here, that they're coming to Spain no matter what, and then we have to... I don't know, do whatever they order from above."

This soldier states that, for the moment, the orders they have received are to "dialogue" and not use force. The YouTuber asks him if they (referring to the undocumented immigrants) want to stay, "you as the Army can't do anything to force them to leave". The soldier's answer is clear: "Right now, yes." The YouTuber adds: "Are they tied hand and foot?" The soldier responds: "No, you can't say it like that, but..." In the end, he admits that yes, they are, and that they are waiting for orders. When asked by the YouTuber, the soldier says that the soldiers' morale is quite high. And that's where the conversation ends.

There's a detail about this soldier that has generated a lot of attention on social media. We can see it above. In his vest, this soldier carries three G36E assault rifle magazines. All three are empty. That is to say, if he had to use his rifle (because he doesn't carry a pistol), he wouldn't have any ammunition. The only weapon this soldier carries is a knife which can be seen behind the magazines. In the video, two other soldiers declined to comment to the YouTuber.

In the video (point 2:00:19, click here) we can also see this VAMTAC ST5 tactical vehicle of the Ceuta Regulars Group No. 54 (GREC 54). It is one of the military vehicles deployed by the Army to deal with the migrant influx into Ceuta.

In this vehicle we can observe one of the few firearms seen in that video. It is a Browning M2 heavy machine gun, 12.7 mm caliber. Its presence is purely for deterrence. In fact, as we can see, it does not have a magazine.

At this point, we must recall what happened during the hybrid warfare operation launched by Belarus against Poland in 2021, transporting illegal immigrants brought to Minsk from Arab countries to the Polish border. This hybrid warfare operation continues today. On May 28, 2024, Polish soldier Mateusz Sitek was stabbed by a Moroccan migrant. Sitek belonged to the 1st Armored Brigade in Warsaw and was guarding the border between Poland and Belarus. The soldier died on June 6, 2024, from his injuries.

Two years later, the Sánchez government has sent our unarmed soldiers to confront a migrant invasion of between 50,000 and 60,000 assailants (according to estimates from the Ministry of the Interior itself) in a single day, while police and civil guards are armed in airports, because . Someone should explain why the lives of our soldiers are being put at risk like this.
