Nowadays it seems that graphic art is threatened by the rise of artificial intelligence, but there are still excellent artists out there.
I recently discovered one of them on Instagram: the young Portuguese illustrator Francisco Fonesca, who develops his work from the city of Porto. I confess that I like his work more and more, because his paintings reflect houses and buildings as if they were alive, with a wonderful use of colors and light. To create them, Francisco uses both traditional media and digital tools. Yesterday he published a video on his YouTube channel in which he explains what inspires him to create his works:
Here you can see the process of creating one of his digital works, using different Photoshop tools:
And here you can see how he makes one of his works on paper, in a much more traditional way:
In addition to working with a screen and on paper, Francisco also makes murals, such as this one he painted on the facade of a building in the city of Amarante, in northern Portugal:
Francis often uses real houses as a reference, such as this one, located in Rome:
From there, Francisco created this work, in which the house comes to life with very vivid colors:
Here we can see another version of the same motif, but at night. Francisco's night paintings have a light that is magical:
In addition to bringing the exterior of buildings to life, Francisco is also capable of making truly beautiful images of interiors, such as this work in which he shows his studio:
Below these lines, a room with its particular use of color and light:
If you like his work, Francisco Fonseca sells his work through his Etsy shop. You can also follow his creations on Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube. I leave you here with some more examples of his work, and I take this opportunity to congratulate him on his works. It's great that there are still illustrators who do this type of art.
