Military events are scheduled in the two provinces into which the archipelago is divided: Santa Cruz de Tenerife (in the west) and Las Palmas. The main events are scheduled for this Saturday, June 7, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with a land and air parade.

This Friday, a naval parade was held in Las Palmas with 11 ships of the Spanish Navy and two patrol boats from the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard. The parade was presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI, aboard the maritime action vessel (BAM) "Tornado."

The stop brought together the aircraft carrier "Juan Carlos I" L-61, flagship of the Spanish Navy and its largest unit; the amphibious assault ship "Castilla" L-52, the frigates "Álvaro de Bazán" F-101, "Blas de Lezo" F-103 and "Santa María" F-81, the submarine "Isaac Peral" S-81 (first of its class and the largest submarine built in Spain), the training ship "Intermares" A-41, the BAM "Rayo" P-42 and the minesweepers "Segura" M-31 and "Tajo" M-36, EAV-8B+ Harrier II Plus aircraft of the 9th Squadron and the Civil Guard patrol boats "Río Segura" and "Río Ara".

After the naval parade, there was an exhibition by the Navy and the Civil Guard on Las Alcaravaneras Beach, as well as demonstrations by the Military Emergency Unit (UME), a jump by the Air Force Acrobatic Parachuting Patrol (PAPEA) and a flyover by the Eagle Patrol, in one of its last displays with the CASA C-101 Aviojets.

This naval parade was a necessary show of force by the Spanish Navy on islands coveted by Morocco, which in the past had already drawn up plans to take over this archipelago, which has been part of Spain since long before the Kingdom of Morocco was founded.
