His attempt to appease Putin has only served to favor that dictator

Iran or Russia: one of Trump's two strategies is wrong, and the facts indicate which one

In recent days, the Iranian terrorist regime's nuclear program has been destroyed to its foundations by Israel and the United States.

Although some may be shocked by this, that a criminal regime has missed the opportunity to equip itself with nuclear weapons is great news for the civilized world. Today, thanks to the joint action of Israel and the United States, the world is a little safer, and millions of people can sleep soundly without Islamist fanatics having the means to exterminate them. I know that the fact that among these millions of people, there are 7.2 million Jews, is something that will infuriate anti-Semites. Personally, I prefer a world where Jews can live in peace than a world in which anti-Semites have reason to be content.

After 12 days of war, and with each new attack by this Islamist dictatorship (the last one tonight), this dictatorship appears increasingly weakened and closer to the day of its fall, a day when the Persian people will finally be able to live in a free and democratic country.

In any case, what has happened in recent weeks demonstrates once again that thugs can only be dominated by force. The international community has spent decades trying to appease Iran's terrorist regime, a process that has only served to buy the ayatollahs time to obtain atomic weapons. Once again, the strategy of appeasement has proven to be a resounding failure, as it was before World War II.

Personally, and after his erratic and lamentable start to his term, I am glad that Donald Trump has paused his endless "two-week" offers to tyrants and has decided to join the United States in Israel's offensive against the ayatollahs' dictatorship, even though he has surely been dragged along by the Israeli government, which was already fed up with seeing time being given away to Tehran.

Obviously, this is a very different position from the one adopted by Trump with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Unlike the "peace through strength" strategy, which has once again proven successful in the case of Iran, the US president's attempts to appease Vladimir Putin have only served to strengthen the Russian dictator, as we saw recently when he blatantly claimed all of Ukraine and also targeted Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

The US president needs to realize that one of these two strategies is the wrong one: showing strength or showing weakness in the face of a terrorist regime. His failure with Russia in the case of the invasion of Ukraine and his success against Iran make it clear which way to go. A logical leader should now be very clear about which line to follow against Putin: showing strength, pressuring the invader, and militarily supporting the country invaded by Russia until it manages to expel the invaders and Putin ceases his aggression against Ukraine. The question we must now ask ourselves is: can we expect Trump to act with that sense of logic?

+ UPDATED 4:47 PM: Trump seems to have no remedy: now he criticizes Israel and Iran equally and rushes them to cease hostilities simply because he is in a hurry to get out of them. His lack of seriousness and sense of reality are astonishing.
