Sánchez will 'alleviate the debt' of other countries as Spain's debt breaks records

Sánchez offers millions of euros to 'alleviate' other countries' debt.

Yesterday, during the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development organized by the UN in Seville, Sánchez announced a national mechanism that will provide debt relief of up to €60 million per year to developing countries. In a message posted on his Twitter account, the Socialist leader added: "We need to address the structural problems that prevent many countries from stabilizing their debt while investing in their future."

The intention seems laudable, but this is like expecting an arsonist to act as a firefighter for his neighbors. There's no need to resort to speculation to draw conclusions about the damage that Sánchez's mismanagement and socialist prescriptions are doing to the Spanish economy. In 2020, Sánchez's government broke the record for the highest public debt in Spain's history: 119.3% of GDP, a total of €1.346 trillion, which is €28,417 for every inhabitant of Spain. After the arrival of European pandemic aid funds, the situation improved slightly, but Spanish public debt has continued to grow.

To give you an idea, in 2024 Spain's public debt stood at 101.80% of GDP, amounting to €1.62 trillion, €33,020 for every inhabitant of the country. Despite these debt levels, the Sánchez government has insisted on applying socialist recipes that increasingly inflate the size of the State, supported by taxpayers through increasingly suffocating tax pressure, which scares away investors and generates unemployment and poverty among Spaniards.

Spain currently has a public debt of 103.5% of GDP

On June 19, the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) reported that public debt stood at 103.5% of GDP in the first quarter of 2025. This independent fiscal control body, created by Mariano Rajoy's government in 2013 at the proposal of the European Commission, noted that Spain is "one of the countries with the highest debt levels in the EMU" (Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union), a situation that has an easily identifiable top official after seven years of Sánchez's government.

Thus, Spain has a government that is seriously damaging its economy, with ideological recipes that have already led to the ruin of countries very rich in raw materials such as oil (such as Venezuela), but instead of correcting this disastrous course and while accumulating a historic record of debt, Sánchez promotes himself in the United Nations by offering millions of euros to other countries as if Spain were swimming in abundance. All this so that the socialist leader can secure a position in that organization or some other for the day he has to leave the government of Spain. A day in which the Spanish people will have to assume the colossal debts that the worst manager in our history is leaving behind.
