The BNG calls for “a very strong applause” for a terrorist organization at an event in Santiago

The far-left separatist coalition, the Bloque Nacionalista Galego (Galician Nationalist Bloc, BNG), has once again demonstrated its affinity with a terrorist group.

Is there a pact to cover up for the BNG and its terrorist allies from the PP-friendly media?

For years, the BNG has been boasting about the attendance of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) at its rallies on July 25 in Santiago, held in the Plaza de la Quintana, next to the great cathedral of the capital of Galicia. This year, the BNG not only boasted about the PFLP's attendance at the event, but also called for a "loud applause" for the terrorist organization, as can be heard in the official video of the broadcast starting at 52:05. I've embedded it here so it starts playing at that point:

As heard in the video, immediately after the presenter of the event began to chant the antisemitic slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will win", used by Palestinian terrorism to demand the elimination of the State of Israel.

It should be remembered, once again, that the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) is a criminal group classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan for years. On January 24, 2024, the Spanish association Acción y Comunicacion sobre Oriente Medio (ACOM) noted about the PFLP:

On October 7, 2023, the PFLP published a statement on its official website supporting Hamas's terrorist attack against Israel, in which unarmed civilians, including children and infants, were kidnapped, tortured, and murdered, and calling on Palestinians to support this massacre (the largest massacre suffered by the Jewish people since the Holocaust), in the following terms:

"The Popular Front called on our heroic people throughout Palestine to actively participate in the battle of the “Al-Aqsa Flood”. Both from their location and from the tools they possess, to attack the enemy army and its settlers, cut off their supply routes, sabotage their vital installations and pursue the terrified Zionist invaders in the face of attacks by the resistance and its agent of attacks in every inch of the land of Palestine."

By "terrified Zionist invaders", the PFLP was referring to entire families, including children and babies, murdered in their homes, in some cases burned alive inside, and to Israeli women who were raped, tortured, and murdered by Hamas terrorists.

In a democratic country, it is intolerable for a political party to praise a terrorist organization, and even less so at a public event. It should also be noted that at today's event, as can be heard in the video starting at point 50:20, the BNG also boasted of the support of two dictatorships, Cuba and Venezuela, two far-left regimes that violate human rights.

The most astonishing thing, as I pointed out last year, is that the Galician media and many national media have been silencing these events, despite the fact that the BNG has been repeating year after year these displays of sympathy for the PFLP in a public event that is recorded in YouTube videos that anyone can check. Would there be this silence if a right-wing party asked for "very strong applause" for a terrorist group and boasted of the support of two dictatorships?

Finally, it should be remembered that Article 578 of the Spanish Penal Code punishes the glorification of terrorism, a crime that includes the glorification of those who have participated in the commission of terrorist crimes, with a prison sentence of one to three years and a fine of twelve to eighteen months. Point 2 of that article adds: "The penalties provided for in the previous section shall be imposed in their upper half when the acts have been carried out through the dissemination of services or content accessible to the public through the media, the internet, or by means of electronic communications services or through the use of information technologies."

For my part, I've already downloaded the video of that broadcast in case it could serve as evidence to take legal action against the BNG, should the organization decide to delete it. However, it's worth asking whether the Prosecutor's Office's inaction in the face of the BNG's repeated displays of sympathy for the PFLP is related to the fact that that far-left separatist organization is one of the parliamentary partners of Pedro Sánchez's government.
