Feijóo reaffirms his intention to unprotect the lives of the unborn, just like Sánchez

Yesterday I spoke here about the Popular Party's position on abortion and today, once again, Feijóo has made things clear on the matter.

In a message published at 2:10 p.m. CET on his Twitter account, the national president of the PP has spoken about the issue of abortion and has done so in these terms:

"I will not use outdated causes or moral banners to confront society. My purpose is to solve the real problems of families and guarantee them a better future. On abortion, my position is clear and known. I will always guarantee that any woman who chooses to terminate her pregnancy can do so with the best medical and psychological care, in accordance with the law."

Thus, for Feijóo, the defense of life against abortion is an "outdated cause" that he disdains, calling it a "moral banner," as if defending good against evil (which is what moral issues are about) were something outdated and that we should forget in favor of a moral relativism that swallows everything, even the murder of unborn babies. The defense of life against terrorism or the rejection of theft are also moral banners. Will Feijóo also abandon them?

Furthermore, on this issue, the PP president uses the same deceitful language as the socialists: it's not "terminating a pregnancy," it's killing a human being in the early stages of life. On this serious matter, Feijóo uses the same trick as Sánchez, which consists of concealing the fact that defines the act of abortion from a scientific point of view: ending a human life.

Even if I were able to subscribe to the entire PP program, which is not the case, this point is enough for me to refuse to vote for that party. As a Christian and as a defender of human life, voting in conscience, I cannot give my support to a political party that considers it legitimate to kill innocent and defenseless human beings, whether because they have some defect or simply because they are unwanted. That is not a right: it is an atrocity.

For the rest, as a Catholic, I hope that our bishops will speak out on the PP's position on abortion with absolute clarity, just as they have been doing on other issues. The lack of protection of human life in its infancy and the social acceptance of abortion are aberrant and deserve to be denounced without hesitation or halfheartedness, regardless of who defends it. It is a fact that many Catholics vote for the PP, and the Church should be very clear on this matter, because a Catholic should not vote for parties that defend such radically anti-Christian positions as supporting abortion.

Finally, it is clear that Sánchez is using the abortion issue as a smokescreen to cover up his corruption scandals and mobilize left-wing votes, just as he has been doing with his smear campaign against Israel. What the PP cannot do is use this smokescreen to avoid a debate as serious as the protection of life, in which it has decided to adopt the same pro-abortion position as the Socialists. With his position, it is Feijóo himself who gives the PSOE an advantage on this issue, just as he does with all the other issues on which the PP has adopted the discourse of the left: gender ideology, discriminatory feminism, environmental extremism, social democratic economic recipes, etc.
