Galicia: Cynical 'anti-war' demonstrations carrying Russian and Iranian flags

February 24 marked four years since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Four long years.

Throughout this entire period, the extreme left has not once protested against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, nor against Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel, the largest antisemitic massacre since the Holocaust. While Vladimir Putin's dictatorship murdered Ukrainian civilians and while Hamas terrorists murdered Jews, including children and babies, the far left remained silent. These aggressions and crimes never mattered to the communists, just as didn't matter to them the massacre of more than 36,000 people by the Iranian dictatorship simply for demanding freedom for their country.

Spain has an openly antisemitic and pro-Russian far left. They are communists stuck in the Cold War era. In fact, their only demonstrations have been against NATO, which didn't start the war but is supporting the country under attack. And Russian and Iranian flags were displayed at some of these demonstrations, as happened a year ago in Santiago at a rally supported by the separatist union CIG, which is very close to the far-left coalition BNG.

Yesterday, history repeated itself. Yesterday, the far left organized a demonstration in Vigo for "peace" and "against war." Against the Russian invasion of Ukraine? No. Against the attacks of Islamist terrorism against Israel? No. Against Iran's attacks on its neighboring countries? Not a chance. The organizers criticized Israel's response against Hamas terrorists (they must think the Jewish people are terrible for not letting themselves be killed without defending themselves) and against the interventions in Venezuela and Iran to overthrow two dictatorships. They didn't say a word against the massacres perpetrated by the Iranian dictatorship, nor against the torture and murders by the Venezuelan dictatorship, nor against the crimes of Hamas against the population of Gaza.

As if the cynicism of the far left wasn't already clear enough, Russian and Iranian Islamist dictatorship flags were also displayed at that demonstration with utter shamelessness. You can see above the image captured by one of the Vigo City Council's webcams as the demonstration passed along Policarpo Sanz Street. A red circle indicates those flags. You can see those infamous flags more clearly in this tweet from @Garcio72:

Vigo was no exception: something similar happened in Santiago de Compostela. In another supposedly "pacifist" demonstration called by the far left, flags of the Iranian Islamist dictatorship were openly displayed —a terrorist regime that massacres its own citizens, hangs homosexuals, discriminates against and mistreats women, and persecutes Christians. I always say that communists are as despicable as Nazis, and once again they themselves have made that perfectly clear. As a Galician, I am ashamed to see that in my homeland there are fanatics capable of displaying such support for two brutal dictatorships, a fanaticism that exposes communism's propensity to defend the worst criminals and anti-democrats in the world.

One more thing: no local media outlet has mentioned the presence of those flags at those marches. The online newspaper metropolitano.gal includes a video in its report showing those flags in close-up, but this media outlet says nothing about it.
