The villages, whose colorful houses sit on the cliffs and ravines of this rugged coast, are Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso and Manarola, the latter perhaps the most famous. In 1997, this area was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. This area began to populate in the Middle Ages, and today most of its inhabitants live from vineyards and olive, fishing (in the case of Monterosso) and tourism. The American photographer Michael Shainblum published a couple of weeks ago a great video in slow motion and 4K quality, in which he shows us three of those locations: Manarola, Riomaggiore and Vernazza.
