The Poland First to Fight Historical-Cultural Association, which groups together Spaniards and Poles living in Spain who recreate various episodes of Poland's struggle for Freedom during the 20th century, reported yesterday that in memory of that date, Sunday, August 1 an event will be held at the Majadahonda Municipal Cemetery (Madrid). It will begin at 5:00 p.m., which was the “W Hour” at which the Survey began. The event will be attended by the Defense Attaché of the Polish Embassy, Colonel Robert Tkaczik, and at that time he will hear a siren for one minute (as happens in Warsaw every August 1 at W Hour), to later sing the National Anthem of Poland.

The event will take place at the grave of a veteran of the Uprising buried in that cemetery, Stanisław Serdakowski, in which a wreath will be made to remember all the Polish soldiers who fought in the Uprising, symbolized in him. Serdakowski, alias "Stasiek", was a soldier of the Armia Krajowa, the main organization of the Polish resistance against the German occupation of Poland. During the Uprising he fought in the "Baszta" Battalion, in the Second Ring "Żywiciel" (Żoliborz) of the Warsaw District. After the fall of the Uprising, Serdakowski was sent as a prisoner of war to Germany. He moved to Spain in the late 1950s and in 1999 he was awarded the Official Cross of Merit. He died in Madrid on February 23, 2015.
