The program for Spain's Armed Forces Day 2026, which will be held in Vigo

At the end of May, the city of Vigo will host, for the first time in its history, the main events of the Spanish Armed Forces Day.

The program of events was announced today in Vigo by the Chief of the Defence Staff (JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, at an event held at the Vigo Naval Command. López Calderón emphasized that "this celebration aims to inform the public about the work that the military, including members of the Civil Guard, carries out both within and beyond our borders, our ongoing work of monitoring and protecting the territory and areas of sovereignty and national interest, as well as defending peace and freedom in the world."

The main events of Armed Forces Day will take place from May 26 to 31. The land and air parade will be held on May 30 on the Samil Beach promenade. This parade will feature the participation of all three branches of the armed forces and 130 vehicles, 46 aircraft, and 25 helicopters. The events taking place in the city are as follows:

• From May 26 to 31, Port of Vigo: naval presence and static display of equipment.
• May 27, 7:00 p.m. Balaídos Stadium: exhibition of personnel and equipment.
• May 28, 7:15 p.m. Puerta del Sol: meeting of military music groups, with seven Armed Forces Music Units that will first perform a parade through the streets until they converge in that square.
• May 29, 3:30 p.m. Vigo Estuary: Naval review presided over by H.M. King Felipe VI, with the participation of ships from the Navy and the Civil Guard.
• May 29, 5:15 p.m. Samil Beach: Dynamic display of personnel and equipment. It will include an equestrian demonstration and a canine unit demonstration.
• May 30, 12:00 PM. Samil Beach: Main event of Armed Forces Day. There will be a raising of the National Flag and a tribute to the National Flag, a tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain, and a land and air parade.

As a resident of Vigo, I am proud that my city will be hosting these events. It is an honor for the people of Vigo to be able to celebrate Armed Forces Day in its streets, on its estuary, and in its port.
