Every October 2nd, the Spanish National Police celebrate the day of their patron saints, the Guardian Angels. This year, it was celebrated in Vigo.

It is an honor for my city to host these events, where we have had the opportunity to see personnel, vehicles, and materials from different units of the National Police. The security cordon for today's parade was somewhat extensive and I was unable to take photos of the central area, but on Tuesday I had the opportunity to see the rehearsals and take some photos that I have published on my Flickr account.

In these rehearsals we were able to see the different scripts of units and specialties of the National Police.

García Barbón Avenue was decorated with Spanish flags and National Police emblems for these events. In this photo, we see two officers from the Documentation Area.

The National Police is a civilian body, but the act was carried out in a military style, with the officers forming a line.

The experience was also interesting in terms of the different headgear worn by the National Police. Here we see an officer of the Special Cavalry Unit (UEC) with his chapiri, very similar to the one used by the Legion, and in front of him we see two members of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) with their gray berets.

I was especially excited to see the officers of the Special Operations Group (GEO), the elite unit of the National Police. It's a police unit I've had a special admiration for since I was a child. Here we see them with their characteristic maroon berets and Heckler & Koch G36KV rifles, firing the salutes during the tribute to the Fallen. Below you can see the photos of today's event. I've uploaded over 100 photos from this series to Flickr; what I'm showing here is just a selection. As you can see, many people from Vigo attended the event, despite it being held in the morning on a weekday.

A VAMTAC S3 from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP). It was the vehicle that started the motorized parade.

The parade was attended by two Alfa Romeo Stelvio from the General Police Station for Immigration and Borders (CGEF).

The dogs of the Special Canine Guide Unit (UEGC) received much applause from the audience. They demonstrated their excellent training, remaining stationary on the platforms of their vehicles.

At the parade we were able to see two of the three UIP BMR armored vehicles. They are based in Moratalaz, Madrid.

GEO's VAMTAC S3, a vehicle equipped with a ramp for assaulting low-rise buildings.

A Cupra Leon PHEV from the Galician National Police Unit, which acts as the regional police force in this region.

An Iveco EuroCargo 4×4 95E21 truck from the Technical Interventions Operational Group (GOIT), on the left, and a Renault Kerax truck used as a Special Actions Laboratory of the Judicial Police.

A Ssangyong KGM Musso Sports from the Tedax-NRBQ Unit, towing a trailer with a deactivation robot.

At the parade we also saw the new Mercedes Sprinters of the VIII Police Intervention Unit (UIP), which has bases in Vigo and La Coruña.

The event also included an air parade with three Airbus Helicopters H135s belonging to the Police Air Unit (UAP). A fourth H135 could also be seen on the seafront in an exhibition organized by the National Police. Never before had four National Police helicopters been assembled in Vigo on a single day.

The National Police's Special Cavalry Unit (UEC) also participated in the parade, both in their modern uniforms and these historical uniforms. You can see many more photos from this series by clicking here.
