A few days ago we saw here the landing of the Spanish Navy on the beaches of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where an important base of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) is located. Last Friday, the Marines released a series of photos of a live-fire artillery exercise in which we can see an M-109A5E self-propelled howitzer from the Landing Artillery Group (GAD) of the Tercio de Armada (TEAR) , the Spanish Marine Infantry' expeditionary force. You can see those images here.

The howitzer barrel lock. The M-284 gun barrel of the M-109A5 weighs 1.8 tons. This lock prevents the barrel from moving and causing damage while the vehicle is in motion.
