All three were part of the Polish resistance in the ranks of the Armia Krajowa

Tributes to three Polish fighters from the World War II that were buried in Spain

Both in Spain and in Poland, being two Catholic countries, there is a tradition of visiting the graves of loved ones at the beginning of November.

Armia Krajowa: the history of the greatest resistance movement of the World War II
Warsaw 1944: when Poland rose against the Third Reich ... and Stalin stand idly by

This tradition, linked to the dates of November 1, All Saints' Day, and December 2, All Souls' Day, causes the cemeteries of Spain and Poland to be filled with flowers and candles in memory of the deceased. On the occasion of these dates, the Historic-Cultural Association "Poland First to Fight", which is dedicated to promoting the struggle in Poland for their freedom, has paid tribute to three Polish combatants of the World War II who are buried in various cemeteries in the Community of Madrid. The honorees were:

  • Kazimierz Tylko-Dobrzański, alias "Pingwin", a soldier in the Polish Army in the September 1939 Campaign, and a member of the Armia Krajowa, the main organization of the Polish resistance against the German occupation. He passed away in Madrid on April 30, 2013, at the age of 91.
  • Jerzy Radłowski Nowak, soldier of the Armia Krajowa, the anti-communist resistance and the 1st Armored Division of the Polish Army, died in Madrid in April 2020, at the age of 92.
  • Stanislaw Serdakowski, alias "Stasiek", soldier of the Armia Krajowa and combatant of the "Baszta" Battalion during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, who died in Madrid on February 23, 2015.

Under these lines you can see a series of photos of these tributes, to those who came members of Poland First to Fight wearing Polish uniforms from different theaters of operations of the Second World War.

Cześć ich pamięci!
