A nod, full of Spanish humour, to his colleagues at the Aeronautica Militare

The Patrulla Águila and its funny parody of an advertisement for the Italian Frecce Tricolori

Between the aerobatic squadrons of the different air forces there is a healthy rivalry and, sometimes, they even play funny jokes with each other.

Panavia Tornado: its Italian pilots show us this veteran combat aircraft

The excellent aviation blog The Aviationist, edited by Italian journalist and aviation enthusiast David Cenciotti, published a post announcing a "fun parody" of the Patrulla Águila, the fixed-wing aerobatic squadron of the Spanish Air Force, to their colleagues from the Frecce Tricolori, the magnificent 313th Aerobatic Training Group of the Italian Air Force, which celebrated its 60th anniversary last September with an airshow in Rivolto, in which the Patrol participated Eagle.

In December 2020, the Frecce starred in a nice advertisement for the Italian sports car Pagani Huayra Tricolore, a video showing off their awesome Aermacchi MB-339 trainers:

The Italian Youtube channel Bradford Flight published a funny video showing the parody that the Patrulla Águila made of that Pagani ad. In this case, since Spain does not make sports cars of the level of those made in Italy, the pilots of the Spanish Air Force chose another national product:

The video is a waste of classic Spanish humor, with which we usually laugh at ourselves. Faced with the sophistication of the Frecce video, the Spanish drivers pretend to be fans who dedicate their free time to hairdressing, cooking, public works and truck mechanics. According to David Cenciotti, the video of the Eagle Patrol was made after his attendance at the Rivolto airshow. "a really funny parody of the Pagani-Frecce Tricolori tribute video", David says.

The author of The Aviationist also points out that "According to our friend Emiliano Guerra who sent the video over to us, the parody was posted on the Patrulla Aguila Instagram feed few days after the celebrations in Rivolto last September, but it was almost immediately pulled. Now it has surfaced again on Youtube." Precisely, the fact that this video was deleted is the reason why many followers of the Patrulla Águila's Instagram account have just found out that this parody was made. It's a shame they deleted it, it's a lot of fun.
