Activities scheduled in Spain on the occasion of Armed Forces Day 2023

This week, from May 31 to June 3, the events corresponding to Armed Forces Day are celebrated in Spain.

The military purchases that Spain plans: MPA, MLRS and a substitute for the EF-18 and Harrier II

This year, the central events will take place in the city of Granada (air and land parade) and in the city of Motril (naval air parade). You can read below the information published by the Defense Staff (see PDF and see brochure) about these acts.

Granada

Wednesday May 31

• 10:00h: Inauguration of the static/dynamic material exhibition, in the Paseo del Salón. Hours: Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• 19:00h: Exhibitions of personnel and material, in the Plaza de Toros.

Thursday June 1

6:00 p.m.: Start of the tour/meeting of military musicians. Music units will participate and will carry out a tour through different streets of Granada. The bands will begin their tour at 6:00 p.m. in different places and will meet at 7:00 p.m. on the esplanade in front of the Palacio de Congresos, where they will offer a joint concert. These will be the participating units and the places where they will start their tours:

• Music Unit of the Royal Guard. It will begin its tour in the Placeta de Jesús Despojado.
• Air Station Music Unit (ACAR) Tablada. It will begin its tour at the Fuente de las Batallas.
• Music Unit of the Legion Brigade. It will begin its tour in Mariana Pineda Square.
• Municipal Band of Granada. It will begin its tour in the Paseo del Salón (music temple).
• Music Unit of the Civil Guard. It will begin its tour in the Placeta de los Escolapios (Paseo de los Basilios fountain).
• Music Unit of the Tercio de Levante. It will begin its tour in Plaza del Ángel.
• Music Unit of the General Military Academy. It will begin its tour in the Plaza de la Concordia.

Saturday June 3

11:30 am: Central act of the Day of the Armed Forces in Granada, at Glorieta Gonzalo Gallas. It will consist of the following parts:

• Formed Group of Honors.
• Incorporation of the National Flag.
• Military Honors to HHMM the King and the Queen.
• Review of HM the King to the Group of Honors.
• Greetings from SSMM the King and the Queen to Authorities.
• Hoisting and Homage to the National Flag.
• Tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain.
• Air parade.
• Land parade.
• Farewell to SSMM the King and the Queen.
• Lowering of the National Flag.

Motril

From Wednesday May 31 to Friday June 2

From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Naval presence, with visits to Navy ships and static exhibition of material on the docks of the port of Motril.

Friday June 2

5:00 p.m.: Central act of Armed Forces Day in Motril chaired by His Majesty the King. It will consist of the following parts:

• Aeronaval parade. Motril beach.
• 18:30h: Dynamic display of media and personnel from the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard. Motril beach.

In the rest of Spain

At this time, the three armies carry out various activities throughout Spain, with open days in barracks, bases and ships, demonstrations, military music concerts, and so on. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Defense has not published any list of activities this year.
