This week, from May 31 to June 3, the events corresponding to Armed Forces Day are celebrated in Spain.
This year, the central events will take place in the city of Granada (air and land parade) and in the city of Motril (naval air parade). You can read below the information published by the Defense Staff (see PDF and see brochure) about these acts.
Granada
Wednesday May 31
Thursday June 1
6:00 p.m.: Start of the tour/meeting of military musicians. Music units will participate and will carry out a tour through different streets of Granada. The bands will begin their tour at 6:00 p.m. in different places and will meet at 7:00 p.m. on the esplanade in front of the Palacio de Congresos, where they will offer a joint concert. These will be the participating units and the places where they will start their tours:
Saturday June 3
11:30 am: Central act of the Day of the Armed Forces in Granada, at Glorieta Gonzalo Gallas. It will consist of the following parts:
Motril
From Wednesday May 31 to Friday June 2
From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Naval presence, with visits to Navy ships and static exhibition of material on the docks of the port of Motril.
Friday June 2
5:00 p.m.: Central act of Armed Forces Day in Motril chaired by His Majesty the King. It will consist of the following parts:
In the rest of Spain
At this time, the three armies carry out various activities throughout Spain, with open days in barracks, bases and ships, demonstrations, military music concerts, and so on. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Defense has not published any list of activities this year. In the Agenda of Defensa y Aviación (in Spanish, click here) you will be able to see those activities of which you are aware. The Defense Culture Portal also regularly publishes activities of the Armed Forces.
