She accuses Russia of using food as a weapon "against the weakest"

An example to emulate: Giorgia Meloni's firm statement on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Italy has been characterized by her clear support for the cause of Ukraine in the face of aggression by Russia.

Giorgia Meloni's position about Russia and the invasion of Ukraine: bad news for Putin
Zelensky's congratulatory message to Giorgia Meloni and her great response

In the last hours, Giorgia Meloni has once again referred to this issue, in relation to Russia's refusal to continue the agreement to facilitate the exit of grain from Ukraine, a decision that could cause a serious problem of famines in underdeveloped countries:

"I believe not only that the war in Ukraine is a new colonial war, but I also believe that it is a war waged against the weakest ones, and we see it also with the non-renewal of the agreement on the grain that is always the will of Russia, a clear signal on which I think everyone should ask why using the raw material that feeds the world as a weapon is an offense against humanity."

These words of Meloni are released on the same day as Russia has attacked the port of Odessa, in an attempt to prevent grain from leaving Ukraine. A new Russian crime not only against the Ukrainians, but against the peoples who wait for that grain to be able to eat. Russia is not only a threat to peace, security and stability in Europe, but also to the poorest countries.

Meloni has also responded to those who appeal to "peace" as an excuse to support Ukraine giving in to Russian claims and relinquishing part of its territory, and with it its national sovereignty. She has been very clear about it at the summit between the European Union and CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States):

"I have heard several talk about peace here. However, I believe that words must be given the correct meaning they have: the word peace cannot be confused with the word invasion, because peace and invasion are two very different concepts, we have to be frank about that, and if anyone thinks they can confuse these two words, they don't realize that a world in which international law no longer exists, a world in which that the strongest militarily can freely invade their neighbors, it will never be a world of peace It will simply be a world in which the law of the strongest applies, this may be convenient for the strong, for the love of God, but it's definitely not convenient for everyone else."

Meloni's position is in line with that of the Polish and Czech governments. The three governments are headed by parties of the European Conservative and Reformist Group (ECR), to which Vox belongs. Giorgia Meloni, Mateusz Morawiecki and Petr Fiala are both examples to be followed by European conservatives, and not those who bet on a low profile or the equidistance between invaders and invaded, or those who openly side with of the aggressors. Congratulations to the Italian Prime Minister for her firm statement.
