These are the soldiers and the training of the FGNE, the elite unit of the Spanish Navy

Among its different special operations military groups, Spain has a unit equivalent to the famous United States Navy SEALs.

Spanish Marine Infantry: the units that make it up and their material resources

This unit is the Special Naval Warfare Force (FGNE), created in 2009 on the basis of two already existing groups: the Special Combat Divers Unit (UEBC, created in 1970) and the Special Operations Unit (UOE), created in 1966 and which for a few years (from 1985 to 1990) was known as COMANFES (Special Amphibious Command). The FGNE is integrated into the Joint Special Operations Command (MCOE) , which also includes the Army's Special Operations Command (MOE) and the Air Force's Parachute Sapper Squad (EZAPAC). The three units have the same distinctive garment: the green beret.

The green beret is the distinctive garment of the FGNE, and its emblem is made up of a 1941 model machete, two crossed anchors and the Royal Crown of Spain (Photo: Armada Española).

The FGNE is based at the Algameca Naval Station, in Cartagena (Murcia). It is made up of a Command Group (COMNAVES), six Estoles (a Catalan word of medieval origin that gives its name to its combat units), a Vessel Unit and a Support Unit. A few days ago, the channel Cosas Militares published an excellent report in which he spoke with members of this unit and showed us part of their hard training, as well as reviewing the values of those who are part of the FGNE, soldiers willing to risk their lives in the most difficult missions to serve Spain (the video is in Spanish, you can activate the automatic subtitles in English in the bottom bar of the player):
