Honors to Corporal Palacios of the Spanish Army who died in an exercise in Poland

This Wednesday, around 10:30 p.m. CET, the remains of Corporal Billye Germán Palacios Aguilar arrived at the Torrejón Air Base, Madrid.

As you could already read here, Corporal Palacios died this Monday in Poland during a live fire exercise. He was a native of Ecuador, he was 43 years old and the father of two daughters. He joined the Army in 2004 and had been awarded the Bronze Cross for Consistency in Service and the Commemorative Medal of Operation Balmis. Currently he served in Tabor I of the Group of Regulars of Ceuta No. 54 (GREC 54) of the Spanish Army. His coffin arrived in Torrejón aboard an Airbus A-310 of the 45th Group of the Spanish Air Force.

According to the Army has communicated, before his transfer "an emotional religious ceremony was held in his honor at the Bemowo Piskie maneuvering field (Poland), attended by his Spanish and allied colleagues."

Today, in the "General Cavalcanti" Barracks in Madrid, base of the Health Group No. 1 of the Army, a military ceremony of funeral honors has been held for Corporal Palacios, an event chaired by the Chief of the Army Staff (JEME), Army General Amador Enseñat y Berea, accompanied by the Chief of the Defense Staff (JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro E. López Calderón, with the assistance of the ambassadors of Ecuador and Poland.

During this funeral ceremony, the Chief of Staff has awarded the Cross of Military Merit with Yellow Badge posthumously to Corporal Palacios. The National Flag that covered the coffin of Corporal Palacios has been delivered to his family along with the decoration and his tarbuch, the head garment of the Regular Forces, by the JEME.
