Last week, Galicia was the scene of an exercise by the Special Naval Warfare Force (FGNE) of the Spanish Navy.
This exercise was carried out in the waters of the Ría de Pontevedra and in the facilities of the Escuela Naval Militar de Marín. According to the Spanish Navy has communicated, the strong>31st Escort Squadron (which integrates the F-100 frigates based in Ferrol) and the 5th Squadron of the Aircraft Flotilla (FLOAN), equipped with SH-60F helicopters Seahawk, also participated in this exercise.
On the other hand, this exercise has also had the participation of special operations units from other countries, specifically from Portugal, the United Kingdom and Jordan, as well as NATO observers .
The Spanish Navy has published the series of photos of this exercise that you can see here. In the first two we can see parachute jumps in the Ría de Pontevedra. In the first we can see a waterfall near Punta Mourisca, in Bueu. In the image you can see the green beacon of Punta Mourisca. In the second photo, probably taken in the same place, we can see the coastal town of Sanxenxo in the background.
A rope descent exercise from an SH-60F of the 5th Squadron on the grounds of the Marín Naval Military School.
An operator jumps into the water from an SH-60F flying at a very low altitude. On the right we see Tambo Island, which is located next to the Naval Military School, which is in charge of its surveillance.
Another image of the operations with the SH-60F in the Ría de Pontevedra, specifically in front of the port of Marín. In the background in the center we see the Church of Santa María del Puerto.
Another image of the rope descent from an SH-60F. My greetings to the FGNE and the 5th Squadron from Vigo, it is a pleasure to have you in the Galician Rías Bajas.
