This Thursday, November 14, the first regular flight of an Airbus A321XLR, the new European commercial aircraft presented yesterday, will take place.
The Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) belongs to the range of narrow-body passenger aircraft, that is, single-aisle. The Spanish airline Iberia has the honour of being the pioneer in the use of this new aircraft, whose presentation took place in Madrid. Although it belongs to the range of small Airbus passenger aircraft, the A321XLR has a fuselage that measures 44.51 metres long and a wingspan of 35.80 metres.
This aircraft has a capacity for 182 passengers and will also have a first class section in the style of larger aircraft. It has a range of 7,500 kilometres, which Iberia will put to the test on this first flight, which will take off from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport at 12:35 CET bound for Boston, where it is scheduled to land at 15:20 local time.
This plane, with registration EC-OIL, made its first flight on October 1. Iberia highlights that this aircraft consumes around 30% less than wide-body models, thanks to the efficiency of its two CFM LEAP-1A engines, with a thrust capacity of 35,000 pounds. If you want to see this new aircraft up close and inside, tonight Fly By Wire Aviation has released a video showing it in great detail:
