Many aviation enthusiasts are enthusiasts of a unique and unrepeatable aircraft: the Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II.

This attack and close air support aircraft made its first flight on May 10, 1972 and was developed around its massive 30mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon, which has made it the world's most lethal tank hunter for decades.

In 1977, the A-10 entered service with its sole operator, the US Air Force. In recent decades, there have been several attempts to retire this emblematic aircraft from service. Despite this, the A-10 continued to be active, but this time the time has finally come for its farewell, which will not be quick, since in 2023 it was announced that the final retirement of the entire A-10 fleet will come in 2028 or 2029.

On November 10, 2024, the A-10 Demo Team said goodbye. This display unit has flown this aircraft for four decades at 1,800 airshows in 10 different countries. Their final farewell took place at the Stuart Airshow in Florida, where they were able to see the A-10 of this team in flight for the last time. Since 2021, the team has been decorated in the classic three-tone scheme (two green and one brown) worn by American aircraft during the Vietnam War (1964-1975).

On Monday, Preston Monoc posted an excellent video showing what that final display was like, in which the Demo Team's A-10 was flown by a woman, Major Lindsay "MAD" Johnson:
