For two and a half years now, Israel has been facing successive attacks from terrorist organizations and the Islamic dictatorship of Iran.
Since its founding in 1948, the State of Israel has faced constant attempts by its Arab neighbors to destroy the country, which today, 77 years later, can proudly claim to be the only true democracy in the Middle East. After failing to achieve its physical elimination during all this time, Israel's enemies now seek to isolate and marginalize the country while it continues to confront terrorism, which still holds Israeli citizens hostage—in the case of Hamas.
Yesterday, aligning itself with the enemies of that democratic country, Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) called for Israel's exclusion from the Eurovision Song Contest. It did so through a shameful statement in which it states that it "recognizes the concerns raised by various civil society groups in Spain regarding the situation in Gaza." RTVE does not say that in the areas of Gaza controlled by Hamas, that terrorist group is holding Israeli citizens hostage. RTVE also does not reveal which "civil society groups" have asked it to adopt that position.
It should be remembered that in 2024, Israel's representative at Eurovision received the most votes in Spain. That vote proved that Spain is not an anti-Semitic country, even though its government is. Since the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, the largest massacre suffered by the Jewish people since the Holocaust, Pedro Sánchez's government has presented itself as Turkey's best European ally, one of Hamas's main supporters. In fact, RTVE has not requested Turkey's exclusion from the festival despite the recent arrest of the main leader of the Turkish opposition by the Erdogan regime, which has now become a de facto dictatorship.
As a Spanish citizen, I am very clear that, given the choice, RTVE should be excluded from Eurovision, not Israel. The only real democracy in the Middle East does not deserve to be excluded from the festival simply because antisemites cannot tolerate the mere existence of that state. RTVE is today a propaganda outlet controlled by Pedro Sánchez's government, a coalition of socialists and communists that flirts with all kinds of dictatorships and is mired in serious corruption scandals, scandals that RTVE is working hard to hide, playing the role of a broadcasting service of one of the dictatorial regimes with which Sánchez associates.
RTVE does not speak on behalf of the Spanish people when it promotes hatred of Israel, but rather on behalf of a government made up of left-wing and far-left parties that did not even win the last elections, and that remain in power thanks to infamous concessions to their parliamentary partners, in a process of dismantling the rule of law in Spain. A process in which RTVE acts as a whitewash for all the government's actions. RTVE does not deserve to represent Spain at Eurovision, and as a Spaniard, I prefer RTVE to be banned from that festival than for that propaganda outlet to sully the name of my country with its sectarianism and manipulations.
