Vigo, my hometown and where I have lived for 49 years, is the largest city in Galicia and has a beautiful setting.
In addition to its estuary, surrounded by mountains and protected by the Cíes Islands, one of Vigo's greatest spectacles is its sunsets. In summer, you can see them at almost 10 p.m. There are different points in the city where you can enjoy this beautiful and incredible gift, but perhaps one of the best is the Castle of the Mount of El Castro, where you can see the northern coast of the Vigo Estuary and the Cíes Islands.
This is the famous Saliente de Coya viewpoint, where people have developed the habit of leaving padlocks, imitating the famous Pont des Arts in Paris. There are other viewpoints at the castle from where you can take photos like this one, taken this afternoon.
The following video was recorded last Sunday from Mount of El Castro, right next to the Saliente de Coya. It was recorded in time-lapse and shows the spectacular sunset we experienced that day in the city. The actual recording time was about 50 minutes. In the video, you can see a ro-ro ship arriving at the Bouzas Repair Dock:
