Yesterday, all of Spain saw that the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has decided to return to its violent and antidemocratic origins.
Justifying violent acts with a colossal lie
For the first time in a member country of the European Union, the government has instigated acts of violence and has even justified and praised them despite the 22 police officers injured by the left-wing extremists who yesterday disrupted the finish of the Vuelta a España in the city of Madrid. To top it all off, the government resorts to a colossal lie, the false accusation of "genocide" against Israel, to justify this violence, brandishing the infamous idea that accusing another country of a crime gives you the right to attack police officers in your own country.
The PSOE copies the arguments of the violent extreme left
Yesterday, the official PSOE Twitter account copied the usual arguments of the far left to justify violence, which are always based on falsely accusing others of violence to justify one's own violence: "Violence is the thousands of civilians killed in Gaza by the fire that falls from the sky daily sent by the government of Israel", forgetting that if civilians die in Gaza it is because Hamas terrorists, that They applaud Sánchez's government, they use them as human shields, committing a war crime that the Spanish government has not condemned even once.
Regarding yesterday's violent protests, the PSOE added: "The people of Madrid, like so many others throughout La Vuelta, dignify Spain in the eyes of the world." To begin with, a few hundred left-wing extremists are not "the people of Madrid." The city of Madrid has 3.5 million inhabitants, and yesterday only a handful of violent individuals took to the streets to attack cyclists and police officers. The fact that the party that holds the reins of the Spanish government presents violent extremists as "the people" is simply another way of justifying this violence.
Likewise, using violence for political purposes does not dignify anyone. Attacking cyclists and police officers is an indignity, and the PSOE's attempt to dignify it is nauseating. It's also yet another attempt to justify violence for political purposes, and that's the third time.
This government must resign and some of its members must go to prison
After yesterday, Pedro Sánchez's entire government should resign. Spain should not be governed by a gang of totalitarians who justify violence. The parties that support this government are responsible for apologists for violence being in power, and will therefore be jointly responsible for all the damage caused by this violence justified by the government and the PSOE.
The government delegate in Madrid and the ministers who have justified this violence deserve to end up in prison. With their shameful messages of the last few hours, they are justifying a crime of public disorder punishable by up to 3 years in prison. Article 557 of the Penal Code not only punishes those who commit this crime, but also those who instigate others to commit it. Furthermore, Article 510 of the Penal Code punishes incitement to violence against a group for various reasons, including their national origin, with up to 4 years in prison.
The PSOE incurs in one of the causes for outlawing a political party
But the events that occurred yesterday are serious enough that this should end with a mere resignation of the government and with the imprisonment of the politicians who encouraged and justified this violence. We are talking about a political party that openly justifies violent acts from one of its main communication channels. The Political Parties Law of 2002 states the following in its Article 9.2:
"A political party will be declared illegal when its activity violates democratic principles, particularly when it seeks to deteriorate or destroy the system of liberties or make impossible or eliminate the democratic system, through any of the following conduct, carried out repeatedly and seriously:" (...)
"b) To encourage, facilitate or legitimize violence as a method for achieving political objectives or to undermine the conditions necessary for the exercise of democracy, pluralism and political freedoms."
Furthermore, point 3 of that article states: "It will be understood that the circumstances of the previous section concur in a political party when there is a repetition or accumulation of any of the following conducts", and adds: "i) Provide cover for actions of disorder, intimidation or social coercion linked to terrorism or violence".
According to what we have just read, what we have seen in the last few hours in the case of the PSOE is clear cause for the illegalization of a political party. The fact that it is the governing party and the second most voted party in Spain (since the PSOE did not win the last elections) not only does not lessen the seriousness of these events but actually increases it: the justification of violence is especially intolerable in any party, but especially in one that holds power, because with such conduct it becomes a great threat to the democratic system and to the peace and security of the Spanish people.
The PSOE already has enough problems with its corruption scandals and now, with this crude attempt to cover them up, it could get into even bigger trouble. In Spain, there are organizations with the courage to demand that the full weight of the law be imposed on the PSOE. You will have the support of millions of Spaniards if you do so.
