Spain: Book presentation on antisemitism canceled due to potential incidents

This hatred of Jews is often disguised as "anti-Zionism," but it always shows its true face in the end. An example of this is what happened with the book "Nunca más es ahora. Antisemitismo hoy" (Never Again Is Now. Antisemitism Today), announced on July 22 by Nagrela Editores, whose website points out the following:

"The date of October 7, 2023, sealed a dark chapter in modern history. The greatest massacre of Jews since the Nazi Holocaust brought with it a particularly disturbing concern: the resurgence of antisemitism around the world.

The year 2024 saw a “peak” in antisemitic incidents, with a 340% increase compared to 2022, according to a recent report by the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency for Israel."

This book is a collective work in Spanish written by Bryan Acuña, Marcos Aguinis, Gabriel Ben Tasgal, Jana Beris, Marcelo Birmajer, Silvia Cherem, Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, Vanessa Hites, Esteban Ibarra, Alberto Jabiles, and José Ignacio Jiménez-Blanco. The editors note: "With a clear focus on the need to educate in respect, strengthen laws, and protect Jewish communities, this book is not only a call to action to confront antisemitism, but also a commitment to the fundamental values ​​of freedom, democracy, and humanity."

The Spanish Jewish association ACOM announced today that the presentation of this book was scheduled for September 30 but has been canceled: "The decision was made in view of the possibility of incidents and a boycott of the event, and in order to preserve the safety of attendees and organizers."

This news comes after the serious incidents instigated by Pedro Sánchez's government to disrupt the final stage of the Vuelta a España in Madrid, simply because an Israeli team was participating. The government has been showing absolute indifference to the rise of antisemitism in Spain and even dedicates itself to encouraging it with such serious acts as this, promoting hatred of Israel to cover up its corruption scandals. In our country we have reached the extreme where it is no longer possible to even publicly present a book on antisemitism due to antisemitic violence.
