For several months now, Pedro Sánchez has become one of Israel's greatest enemies in the West, in a campaign in which he has increasingly raised the tone of his statements, going so far as to regret not having "nuclear bombs" to stop Israel's offensive against Hamas and receiving praise from that terrorist group for doing it favors on the same day as Hamas. murdered a Spanish citizen.

All of this is being an obvious smokescreen by Sánchez to cover up the corruption scandals that surround him, for which at this moment his wife, his brother, his attorney general and several Socialist officials he trusts are already accused of various corruption crimes. The judicial noose around Sánchez and his party is tightening ever tighter and that has the Socialist leadership openly knocked out in the polls. Sánchez himself shows evident physical deterioration. His attacks against Israel are a desperate attempt to cover up the barrage of headlines generated by Socialist corruption.

He is trying to compete in radicalism with his communist partners

Furthermore, with this maneuver, Sánchez was trying to mobilize the left-wing electorate most dissatisfied with these corruption scandals, especially those related to prostitution cases, events that have left the supposedly feminist image of this government in tatters. Allying with Islamists, a very misogynistic and homophobic movement, was not a good idea, but Sánchez had no other political ammunition left. For some time now, he has been someone whose political capital has practically been exhausted. In any other country, a prime minister would have already resigned with a tenth of the scandals surrounding him.

The problem for Sánchez is that competing on radicalism with the communists of Sumar and Podemos causes the PSOE to lose votes in the center. This explains why the Socialists are barely able to capitalize on their Palestinian distraction in the polls, except in those prepared by socialist activists, which only serve to generate false illusions. Sánchez is forced to strike a difficult balance, facing the challenge of taking votes away from the anti-Semitic far-left and at the same time not being seen as an incendiary politician who encourages hatred of Jews and violence in the streets, as we saw recently in the final stage of the Vuelta a España, which offered a very poor image of our country to the entire world, calling into question the government's ability to guarantee the security of important sporting events.

The conflict in the Middle East creates an internal war on the left

Of course, the communists of Sumar and Podemos are profiting from this balancing act of the socialists. The far left is also mired in a struggle for its own survival between Yolanda Díaz's faction (Sumar) and Pablo Iglesias's faction (Podemos), so their race towards the most absurd extremism knows no bounds. At this rate, all they need to do is ask Sánchez to declare war on Israel and send our fighter jets to bomb Tel Aviv.

Sumar and Podemos's messages against the PSOE have been increasing. Pablo Iglesias's party is now openly maintaining a practically oppositional stance to the government, despite being among its investiture partners, while Sumar's ministers are increasingly distancing themselves from Sánchez, offering a pitiful image of the government, with a cabinet that cannot even agree on important foreign policy issues. Trump's peace plan for Gaza has shown the differences between Sánchez and his partners, with the president of the government forced to applaud this plan in the name of peace, so as not to give an image of an Islamist, and with Sumar and Podemos adopting an extreme position that almost seems to hope that Hamas wants to continue this war by refusing to release the Israeli hostages kidnapped two years ago.

The consequences of governing without any scruples

It must be said that Sánchez has gotten himself into this quagmire because of his desire to put his continued power above all else. He has had no qualms about allying himself with the most extremist parties on the Spanish political map, with those who have links to Palestinian terrorism and with parties that openly support some of the worst dictatorships, not to mention the fact that Of course, the worst of all, EH Bildu, a party that refuses to condemn ETA's 853 murders, including the 22 murders of children and babies.

The internal war that has broken out within the Spanish left is the logical consequence of Sánchez's lack of scruples. A politician who decided to ally himself with totalitarians and offer them all kinds of concessions in order to prevent the Popular Party from coming to power after winning the last general elections, despite the PP's efforts to submit to socialist ideological dogmas. Now Sánchez is the victim of his own irresponsibility and his own vileness, which have led him to become the leader of a government that is increasingly weaker, more incompetent, and more incapable of governing.
