One year after the disaster in Valencia, what has Sánchez done to prevent it from happening again?

That disaster resulted in 237 deaths, 229 of them in the Valencian Community. Despite the magnitude of the tragedy and the abandonment to which the residents of the affected areas were subjected for several days (let us remember that the President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez took four days to order a large deployment of the Army to help the victims), a year later the two top political figures, Sánchez and Mazón, the President of the Valencian Community, have still not resigned, despite the errors and negligence they committed that aggravated the effects of the disaster.

Attacking RTVE took priority over helping the flood victims

Beyond political responsibilities, one must ask: what has the Spanish government done to prevent this disaster from happening again? We don't have the means to prevent torrential rains, but we do have the means to mitigate the effects of such severe weather. The government made its priorities clear when, the day after the disaster, an emergency vote was held for the socialists to take control of RTVE, while residents of the affected areas had to wait several days to receive aid.

A year later, the government has not carried out any flood prevention works

It is worth remembering, a year later, that a month before the catastrophe, the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ), dependent on the government, refused to build storm tanks on the Elche-Santa Pola road, which would have largely mitigated the effects of the floods, which was the main cause of the high number of deaths that day. Yesterday, Vozpópuli pointed out that one year later, the government has not carried out any flood prevention works, and does not plan to start any until at least 2027, that is, when three years have passed since the Valencia catastrophe.

Instead, the government has had other priorities. Yesterday it showed one of them: to assault the Justice system in order to put the investigation in the hands of the Public Prosecutor's Office (dependent on the government), a new attack on the Rule of Law whose obvious aim is to close the judicial investigations into socialist corruption. Sánchez has also prioritized other measures aimed at pleasing the whims of his secessionist allies, such as erasing the Russian connection to the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia, introducing regional languages ​​into the EU and grant Catalonia de facto fiscal independence, forcing the other Spanish regions to pay the cost.

... and the smokescreens used to cover up socialist corruption

To all of the above we can add the ideological whims of the socialists, such as introducing the murder of unborn children as a "right" in the Constitution (a moral, ethical and legal aberration that implies totally failing to protect human life at its beginning), encouraging violence in the streets and to destroy relations between Spain and Israel, all designed as a smokescreen to cover up his corruption scandals. In the end, all the priorities of the current president of the Spanish government can be summed up in a single sentence: Sánchez only does what helps him stay in power; he doesn't care about anything else, even if the result ends up being another catastrophe because he didn't take the necessary measures in time to prevent a repeat of what happened a year ago.
