The presidente of the Spanish Governmente, the socialist Pedro Sánchez, continues to try to cover up his corruption scandals with lies.
Sánchez equates Israel, the attacked country, with Russia, the aggressor country.
After yesterday having encouraged the acts of violence that led to the suspension of the last stage of the Vuelta a España in Madrid, today Sánchez has not condemned these riots and has also launched the following lie against Israel:
"Why was Russia expelled after the invasion of Ukraine, but not Israel after the invasion of Gaza? Our position is clear and unequivocal: until the barbarity ceases, neither Russia nor Israel should be involved in any further international competition."
The Israeli government responds to Sánchez: "An antisemite and a liar"
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Gideon Sa'ar, responded to Sánchez in a message published on Twitter:
"An antisemite and a liar. Did Israel invade Gaza on Oct. 7th or did the Hamas terror state invade Israel and commit the worst massacre against the Jews since the Holocaust? Sánchez and his Communist government are antisemites and enemies of the truth."
This is not the first time Sánchez has launched this hoax. He already did so in May, when he tried to expel Israel from Eurovision using the same lie: equating Russia, an aggressor country, with Israel, an attacked country. But the socialist leader's lie goes even further, because with his words, Sánchez is tacitly equating Ukraine, an attacked country with a democratic government, with Gaza, whose Hamas terrorist government attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, perpetrating the greatest massacre that the Jewish people have suffered since the Holocaust.
A way to whitewash Hamas terrorists
As I reported in May, with these infamous comparisons Sánchez is whitewashing Hamas, trying to make people forget that this war was started by that terrorist organization that has the government of Gaza in its hands, a terrorist organization that Hamas took over after the Palestinian elections of 2006, without new elections being called since then. Like the West Bank, in the hands of the Palestinian National Authority, Gaza is a dictatorship. Another one to add to the list of dictatorships that Sánchez supports.
So, everything happening in Gaza is the fault of Hamas, which started this war, which uses Gaza civilians as human shields (forbidding them from evacuating combat zones), which is a war crime that the Sánchez government has not denounced even once. Furthermore, Hamas is holding dozens of Israeli hostages, which is the reason that forced Israel to lead ground military operations in Gaza. This war would have been over by now if Hamas had released the hostages and laid down its weapons, but just like the Nazis did in 1945, Hamas prefers Gaza to remain in ruins.
Sánchez has not accused Russia of 'genocide' even once
Furthermore, Sánchez's comparison between Israel and Russia benefits Putin's dictatorship. Sánchez has been slandering Israel for months, falsely accusing it of committing "genocide", a huge lie fueled by Hamas propaganda, whose false death toll in Gaza is adopted by Sánchez's government without the slightest verification. However, Sánchez has not accused Russia or Putin of "genocide" even once in the three years of that dictatorship's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In that invasion, the Russians have killed many more people than those who died in Gaza because of the Hamas attack on Israel, but Sánchez has avoided using that accusation against the Russian dictator while governing in Spain with the support of pro-Russian parties: a mere coincidence? Let us remember that unlike Israel, which carries out precision strikes and gives warning before attacking in order to evacuate civilians, Russia launches indiscriminate attacks against civilian targets in Ukraine without any prior warning. Many Ukrainian children have died in these attacks, but despite all this, Sanchez has not uttered the word "genocide" against Russia even once.
Sánchez has continued buying gas from Russia, helping Putin finance his aggression
In fact, Sanchez has continued buying gas and oil from Russia, thus helping Putin finance his aggression against Ukraine, for an amount much greater than the hitherto ridiculous military aid sent by Spain to Ukraine (today, Spain remains one of the European countries that has sent the least military aid to the Ukrainians). Furthermore, and as we saw a few months ago, the Sánchez government has blocked the investigation into Russian interference in Spain in connection with the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia, simply because that interference implicated government allies.
Sánchez also avoids accusing Hamas of 'genocide'
Similarly, Sanchez has not once accused Hamas of "genocide", despite having perpetrated —I repeat— the greatest massacre suffered by the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Hamas has been trying to exterminate the Jews of Israel for many years, a goal that this criminal organization has bluntly affirmed: its founding charter calls for the killing of all Jews. Thus, Hamas is an organization that openly advocates genocide, but Sanchez avoids any accusation in this regard, while launching it, with absolute disregard for the truth, against the democratic country attacked by Hamas.
The precedent of the PCE blaming the British and French for WWII
This is not the first time that the Spanish left has spread a lie like this to whitewash an aggressor: let us remember that in 1940 the Spanish Communist Party, which today has two female ministers in Sánchez's government (Yolanda Díaz and Sira Rego) presented the United Kingdom and France as the culprits of the Second World War, simply because at that time the USSR was allied with Germany (both had invaded Poland in 1939). Today we know that the PCE received orders from Moscow to spread this hoax. Is Sánchez receiving orders from Doha, Qatar, where the Hamas leadership resides?
What Pedro Sánchez's government is doing against Israel is like accusing the Allies of "genocide" in 1944 for bombing Germany, omitting that it was Hitler who started the World War II and calling for a "two-state solution" that would allow the Nazis to profit from their aggression against other countries. Today, Sánchez and his far-left partners are embracing the narrative of the new Nazis, of criminals who started this war in an attempt to exterminate the Jews and who now intend to pose as victims of the attacked country, also claiming that having perpetrated a brutal anti-Semitic massacre is profitable and will allow them to continue murdering Jews in the future.
A clear example of antisemitism according to the IHRA definition
As I pointed out in May, Sánchez's smear campaign against Israel is a clear manifestation of antisemitism according to the IHRA definition to which his government subscribed, which includes among its definitions of antisemitism the following: "applying a double standard by asking Israel to behave in a way that is not expected or required of any other democratic country." With his false accusation of "genocide", Sánchez is doing against Israel something that he does not do against a dictatorship like Russia or a terrorist group like Hamas. Gideon Sa'ar is right to accuse Sánchez of being an antisemite and a liar. The socialist leader is acting like a mere puppet of Hamas, allowing himself to be manipulated by them to demonize the only democratic country in the Middle East.
