The PSOE wanted to send people to prison for praying in front of abortion center

Justice halt an aberrant persecution against the pro-life movement in Spain

The authoritarian drift of the socialist government in Spain is evident on several fronts, including attacks on religious freedom and freedom of speech.

The socialist tolerance with terrorists and its intolerance with conservatives
The PSOE allowed an event that justified Hamas and now intends to ban a pro-life event

The left passed a gag law to accuse pro-life activists of coercion

Four years ago, the Socialist Party (PSOE) promoted a gag law against the pro-life movement, an aberrant law that threatened imprisonment for those who oppose abortion simply for praying or carrying out informational activities in front of centers where unborn babies are killed. The law was based on the absurd notion that simply praying or informing constitutes "coercion." Let us remember that coercion is the use of force or violence to compel someone to say or do something. What violence is there in praying or informing?

The left had legalized the coercion of unions to force strikes

It so happens that before promoting that law, the Spanish left legalized the coercion of unions to force workers to go on strike. The reform consisted of eliminating point 3 of Article 315 of the Penal Code, which stated the following:

"Those who, acting in a group or individually but in agreement with others, coerce other people to start or continue a strike, shall be punished with a prison sentence of one year and nine months to three years or with a fine of eighteen months to twenty-four months."

What the left in Spain is doing is establishing a totalitarian concept of law, according to which coercion goes unpunished if committed by a union to force someone to strike (an act that is indeed violence), while at the same time praying or speaking out in front of an abortion center is considered "coercion".. This is how a democracy is degraded: by passing unjust laws designed to favor left-wing criminals and criminalize peaceful citizens for opposing abortion.

The courts put a stop to this persecution against the pro-life movement

Unfortunately for the socialists, there are still judges in Spain who are faithful to their duty. Today, El Debate reports that 21 pro-life activists have been acquitted after being accused of "coercion" for praying outside an abortion center. The events for which they were tried occurred in 2022, that is, after the approval of the gag law used to persecute pro-life groups. The ruling states that "there is no evidence" that the defendants confronted, harassed, or assaulted any person, nor that they formed human chains blocking access to women or workers or cut off supplies to the abortion center. The defendants were limited to "praying silently or in a low voice", within the "legitimate right to express faith", according to the ruling.

That judicial decision calls into question the prosecution, which is dependent on the government and had requested the conviction of the accused, stating that the aforementioned acts were "harassment and intimidation," but it also exposes the gag law promoted by the government of Pedro Sánchez, a law made to intimidate and persecute the legitimate right of members of the pro-life movement to pray and to inform about the reality of abortion in their peaceful gatherings.

A persecution promoted by the same people who allow tributes to terrorists

I have left one piece of information for the end, relating to the events in question: the events judged took place in Vitoria, in the same Basque region where the government has allowed hundreds of tributes to ETA terrorists, events in which the murderers of hundreds of people, including children and babies, have been glorified. It should be noted that a few days after promoting this gag law against pro-life activists, the PSOE and its allies voted against an initiative to prohibit these tributes to terrorists. This was no surprise. Let us remember that in 2018 the PSOE supported legalizing the crime of glorifying terrorism. They are the same totalitarians who wanted to imprison peaceful pro-life activists for praying. Socialism is a cancer for Spain.
