When preparing our equipment for a mountain outing or a day of exploration, we must anticipate possible accidents.

Having a first aid kit on hand can get us out of a tight spot, from minor injuries to more serious situations. It's never a desirable situation, but as with everything, it's always better to be overly cautious than overconfident.

In recent weeks, the always interesting YouTube channel Aventuras Entresierras (which I recommend subscribing to if you're interested in exploration, mountaineering, and survival) has published two interesting videos analyzing mountain first aid kits currently available on the market, as well as pointing out some potential improvements and offering some first aid tips. The first video is about a first aid kit sold at Decathlon stores, the Forclaz 900 (the videos are in Spanish; you can activate automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):

This French-made first aid kit is very complete and reasonably priced, and it also includes instructions in several languages.

The second video, Aventuras Entresierras, showcases a smaller and cheaper first-aid kit, the Rhino Rescue Ultralight, manufactured in China and sold on online marketplaces like Amazon and AliExpress. In this case, Aventuras Entresierras has raised some understandable concerns:

Once again, I congratulate Aventuras Entresierras for their always interesting and useful videos, which provide us with very valuable information to ensure that our outings to the countryside or mountains are safe and that we have everything we need to return home safe and sound.
