The Cotswolds are a region in central England that is known for having some very well-preserved medieval villages.

One of those villages is Hawling, in Gloucestershire. Located one kilometer north of the A436 road, with only 224 inhabitants and surrounded by green farmland, this place seems straight out of the Shire from "The Lord of the Rings." This village has very old buildings from the medieval period, such as St. Edward's Church, built at the beginning of the 13th century and belonging to the Anglican Church.

Right next to St. Edward's Church is Hawling Manor, a 16th-century building where Queen Elizabeth I of England is said to have stayed. The village, in fact, would seem frozen in the 16th century, were it not for a few parked cars, the asphalt, and the lampposts. A few days ago, the YouTube channel Kevin The Countryman posted an interesting video of a walk through this village in the early morning: "this walk captures low-lying mist drifting across fields, quiet country lanes, and the soft stillness that settles over the countryside before the day begins. There’s no talking or music here, just natural sounds and a peaceful rural atmosphere", comments the video's creator.

You can see some screenshots from this relaxing video here. Here we see St. Edward's Church, on the right and surrounded by old gravestones, and on the left, Hawling Manor.

Elsewhere in the UK, old red telephone boxes seem like a relic of the past, in a society where they are being replaced by mobile phones. In Hawling, this box seems like a symbol of modernity.
